As the title says i am looking to swap tailights over the weekend from an 05 civic on my 02 civic coupe and i am not sure which steps i have to take...Do i have to cut wires and plugins and swap or is there a simpler way??? I tried to find a simular post but wasn't able to find one...

Any info at all will be much appreciated

Talking from experience??? I'm gonna swap from a scrapped car at my bodyshop and they want me to put my oem ones on the 05 sort of a trade i guess lol... I find the 04-05 look sweet

one of the connectors needs to be slightly modded to fit, it doesnt just plug in.

 

^^Yup. I actually like 01-03 tailights, it's distinctive with the < > shape at night. 04-05 taillights is generic and blends in with every other car.

 

my opinion on 7th gen tail for coupes, USDM 01-03< USDM 04-05< EDM 04-05< EDM 01-03 sexy!

 

i do agree that the 01-03 at night look better but in day time the 04-05 look way cleaner

 

so all i need to do is modify one connector

 

god i love this site it's one of the most usefull honda tool...

 

edit: ya the turn signal socket need to trim the sides so the connector can fit to socket, easy

 

so i am back from the shop and i'm all done with the swap... The only difference was that the 01-03 has a 4th light wich is another day light... So you cancel that one then the two other than the signal light is just plug in and as i had to swap lights for lights i cut the signal lights plugin on both cars and swaped... Two wires (easy fix) and that's that

to me the 04-05 tail lights look a lot cleaner then the 01-03

 

yeah they don't have that texture in the red glass like the 01-03's all and all very easy swap and very satisfied...
