Re: (REDchirp)
Import Tuner (maybe...it may have been another mag) just had an article on
a K20A3 swap into a 7th gen civic. Showed some basic pictures and what not.
I would assume that this would be similar, but I know a guy on ephatch.com
had a list of things he had to do to get a K20 into his Si...I think his name on
there is PoRT, or something similar.

http://www.hondawerx.com - for actual complete K20A-R swap
http://www.hasport.com - for full DIY on K-series engine swap into an automatic or manual Civic.
Wiring is a bitch but it can be done. The most important parts you'll need new motor mounts, ECU, shift linkage & new front axles from a 3rd Gen Integra/EP3 (if you want to keep your car 4-lugged) or RSX/Integra-R for 5-lug. The EP3 front axles are more expensive than the ones from the DC5 believe it or not. You can find them in a junk yard if you must. You'll also need an EP3 radiator. It's not cheap. The motor runs on 93-95 octane.
The DC5R's only recorded quarter mile time that I've seen was a 14.2. It should be no different in a Civic considering the Civic is about 40lbs lighter via curb weight.

Why not just trade the 7th gen coupe for an RSX-S and be done with it? Once you spend the $$ and time, you'll be well over the cost of a new, factory warranted S anyways.

some ppl would rather have the hybrid...i dont know why ppl say this, if ppl listened there would be no B series, H series in EG , EK's etc.

No, that's different. B series in a hatch is a few hundred lbs lighter than it is in an Integra, plus hatches are cheap.
K20 in a G7 coupe gets you absolutely no benefit over the RSX-S.

200hp is a benefit over that POS 127hp single cam D17 is it not...
EM2 curb weights DX/LX/EX (MT ALL): 2405/2465/2553
DC5-S curb weight : 2767
back when B series and hatches werent so cheap im sure your type said the same thing. Spare me the bullshit, please.

Let's look at facts:
What's the price of a 2002 Civic Coupe + the price of the RSX-S motor and the required components needed to complete the swap? Now please tell me how you are saving money over a 2002 RSX-S, which is still under full Acura warranty.
And once you add the extra weight of the RSX-S motor and the heavier springs/swaybars needed for the weight, how much lighter do you really think the Civic coupe will be over the S? I doubt very little, if any at all. All you have done is created a car that is a slightly different body shape than the RSX. And resale is going to suck onthe hybrid. And you'll still get your @ss handed to you by a B series hatch.
And back in the early 90's, people weren't into swapping vtec motors into hatches like they are now.
I'll bet you are the type of guy who says that the GSR can be made into a better car than the Type R for less money (since we're assuming things).
Spare me the Bullshit.

Re: RSX-R motor swap in 7thgen coupe? (Todd00)
The point I was making was in a few years this will not cost as much...now im sure they are priced as the aforementioned B/H series swaps did a couple years ago. The people who have the money will spend it, the people who dont will wait. As for warrenty and resale, if the person is really that serious about this swap, im sure they could give a crap about warrenty, and resale value...if you did this swap would you sell the car?
Just because you dont like the EM2 (which I AM assuming since 99.9% of the ppl on here dont) , dont knock the swap because the ppl who have done it have spent assloads of time/money into the swap (Aarons K20A2 swap took over half a year, and HAsports mounts werent even available at the time)
And no, if I had the money when I did my swap I would have easily went with the C5.

Despite the obvious price difference, so how much would the "lighter-than-B-series" K motor be in a car with a curb weight 220-320lbs lighter be? (DX/EX)
DX coupe: $9k-$10k (used)
Type S engine/tranny/ecu/axles etc.: $4k-5k
Installation: $1k-$2k
Total: $17k
Priced as a Type S? More like an EP3 with Type S power without the Type S price.

Re: RSX-R motor swap in 7thgen coupe? (SlammedBlueEM2)
it's not even that expensive dude, i would've done it if i didn't have 12000$ damage to my car...
engine is 8000$ (canadian) install is 1500$, then you need suspension, which is another 3000$ (installed) so for roughly 8000$ USD you can get this conversion done.

first off i have a couple sponsers... and one of em found a motor.... and the cost of the motor for the company and they have 3-4 type-r's lying around... for $5800... ya... cheap as hell for what i normally see as the price... and as part of the sponsership they will pay for half of it... and pay for the installation... so in the end i only pay about $3000 or so... so really it's not that bigga deal... it's same price as a b16 swap... and i'll smoke the **** outta a b16 wit a DC5-R in a civic coupe... just wanted info on whats out there... not a type-s freak that will get beat by a coupe wit a DC5-R and can't stand the fact that it is possible

Re: (REDchirp)
Who is sponsoring you??? Someone here in tampa? If all you are looking at is $3K
Do it and dont look back. Don't underestimate b16 hatchcraps though...I know a ton that would absolutely roll a 7G coupe w/ swap and then some. If drag racing is what you are into of course.

Re: Price comparison...
Here is a price break down of my 2001 Civic Hybrid.
I bought a theft recovery 01 Civic for $6K
A wrecked RSX for $3.8K
If I had to pay for the mount kit and other related parts (radiator, subframe, fan shrouds, minor stuff) for the swap it would have been approximately $1.2K
To repair the theft damage, I spent about $600
The Rev Hard turbo kit, AEM big brakes, AEM engine management, Fiber Images hood, and Sparco seats about another $7.2K
So for around 19K I have a really fast Civic that will kick my supercharged B16 CRX's ***, not to mention any RSX that hasn't been severely modified.
REDchirp, I am here to help, what more information do you want to know?

Re: (REDchirp)
hey brian g, Did you guys have to change anything(piping) in putting the rev hard turbo kit? I'm planning on putting a turbo in my k20 2001 civic. I just want to know if any rsx turbo kit would just bolt right in or would modifications be needed. Right know I'm probably just going to go with custom set up. How's the aems ems working with the k20, any problems?

Without adding the price of the car, of course it's not. But he did say it would've been cheaper to buy a used hatch so I was only fighting fairly.
FYI (or anyone's info), hmotorsonline.com has the K20A for $5,800.
