I've never heard of anyone running dual alternators...ever.

If you're going to spend all the money on the electronics, you might as well spend the money on one high-output alternator and do it right (and the easier way from my perspective). What do you mean by ridiculously priced?

x2

What price have you been quoted for a high output alternator and what is it rated at?

^ Less than $300 and more than equal to two stock alternators

just by a high amp alternator, a stock one is like 70 amps, so buying ^^ that 190 amp puts out more power than two stock ones

Gotta pay to play.

After you went and bought another OE style alternator, fabricated a bracket, and then matched up a belt to top it off you could've already bought and installed the direct replacement high-output alternator.

My vote is for the high-output alternator, obviously haha.

It is possible that a minor change could occur, but I am sure that most people installing high output alternators are more worried about their equipment. Besides, the big MPG robber wouldn't be the alternator, it would be the hundreds of pounds of electronic/sound equipment.
