Hello all. I just bought a 1997 Honda Civic DX with 136k on it. It seems to be a good little car, but i noticed that 3rd gear whines will driving and 5th gear will actually stick in gear at times and has to be pulled on hard to disengage from gear. Has anyone had these problems and what can be done. Is there an external solenoid on the 5 speeds that can be changed or is it new tranny time?

 

Wait, automatic or 5 speed? There are only solenoids on the automatics.

 

Sorry. 5-spd transmission. I meant to say synchro's.

 

You can put synchros in it, but I can almost guarentee you it will be cheaper to just swap in another transmission.

tranny will **** soon like just keep drivin it and save your money till she goes it could go for awhile i would say stay out of 5th as much as you can cuz it could get stuck and you cant take off in 5th lol my friends tranny did the same thing before and he lost 5th then reverse then 3rd lol

just limp around if its your only car for as long as it goes
