Pic request: Krylon and VHT wrinkle paint up close
i'm looking for some pictures of both Krylon and VHT wrinkle paint up close, all i see are backed up shots. trying to see which is closest to the oem valve covers. thanks.

VHT.
If you get VHT, make sure you get the gen2 can which has a better tip which is blue. The first ones get clogged WAYYY too fast, and this happens..

krylon wrinkle black, then a couple coats of red (can't remember the brand...)

currently redoing a spare valve cover with red VHT wrinkle...

Krylon wrinkle black........ I hope this helps. I used some heavy coats on it and also hit it with a hair dryer. You can see it wrinkle up while you put the heat to it

EDIT: Added a couple pics that I just took for you after reading this thread....

To get an OEM like finish, you need to do relatively light coats and use a hairdryer to ensure wrinkling.
I disagree about the "light coats." You want a fairly heavy spray to get it to wrinkle.
I did my friend type s valve cover in the VHT and I was impressed with the results, it looks identical to my type r cover
Heres some close ups for the thread. The wrinkle isn't as deep as it looks it's mostly the shine. This was painted fairly heavy coats all at once then dried with no heat applied.

My OEM CTR valve cover, I actually hadn't noticed how close they were until now lol...

Did this today, pic is a little blurry though.
One heavy coat of Krylon black.
Heat applied with a Harbor Freight heat gun on High for 5 minutes.
Light light coats of regular glossy red (Light coats made it duller)

That pic directly above of the red one is how it gets when you go to heavy with the paint.
Vht works great. I've always sprayed mine and then put it in the oven at 350 degrees for about 40 minutes. It makes your house stink bad for a few hours. So be warned.
Here is mine. Not a really close pic.
