Taking out air bag!! (help)
my friend is going to take of his stock steering wheel and he wants to sell the air bag in it for extra money for his project car. okay we both know that they save lives but he wears glasses so he doesnt want to take a chance of it putting his eye out, plus he have 2 racing seats/harnesses and plans on getting a roll cage some time soon. so we need info on how to take the bag out. thanx in advance
just disable it, and check your helms/haynes manual for the steering wheel. for the passenger, it's easy, just 4 screws underneath i believe, they are a bitch to get to though.
make sure you take off the passenger air bag cover off the actual air bag so you don't have a big hole in the dash
and selling your air bags for $$ and getting something better with the supported items is a
i sold my air bags for $300 and got me the tekniqauto.com steering wheel and i love it. so it was basically free with profit

I got my haynes manual at AutoZone for $12 or $15 (maybe less i don't remember), I don't think you would have to goto honda to get the repair manual unless he wants an official honda repair manual.

i think all you have to do is unplug it from the SRS computer , and then yank them hoes out, my rrommate did this and got over $400- for them, its a damn good idea!!!
Hey, what year accord and what color interior does your friend have? I'm looking to buy some airbags for my 95 accord, grey interior. Just name a price. You can email me at jfan600@hotmail.com
when removing airbags first disconnect the battery.. then disconnect the airbag and remove it... the passenger airbag will not work if the drivers side airbag is no longer present..

You people give the wrong info here and it could cause someone to be seriously hurt..
Do follow the proper steps when handling/removing/installing airbags.. It may save your life..
Disconnect the battery and allow the SRS control unit to discharge residual power for at least 10 minutes..
understand the climate conditions when servicing the SRS system, dry low humidy climate is more vulnerable to static discharge, so ground yourself prior to playing with airbags..
If one airbag is disabled then the other can discharge when the SRS control unit is in fail-safe mode.. trust me
When the airbag is removed, place it with the bag in the upward position so it doesn't become a projectile if the airbag was to accidently deploy.
I have personally seen dual airbags blow out a windshield from a tech just dusting of the SRS control unit, his mistake was he never disconnected the battery.. Its a good thing his head was underneath the dash at time of deployment.. DO NOT TAKE AIRBAG OPERATION LIGHTLY !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I couldn't agree more with those fine words. PLEASE unhook the battery. I removed hundreds of airbags when i worked at import auto salvage. I always unhooked the battery before removing them. We set off 3 bent passenger side airbags one day. Some were the first generation bags and some second generation. The first generation bags deployed harder and are present in 94-95 accords. Man that is one heck of an explosion and you don't want to be anywhere near it when they go off. I would hate to be in a wreck when they went off!! There are only two T-30 Torx screws that hold the airbag in on the drivers side. There should be a red shorting plug in the back of the steering wheel. Make sure to install that after removing also. Just follow the steps above and BE CAREFUL... As a hint keep your head out from in front of the bag when removing. In the rare event that it should go off you will be out of harms way....
