Default Whining sound from engine bay

my timing belt is fairly loose and ive been having like .25 or .5 of a second of a squeek when i start my car up in the morning for the past 2-3 weeks. im guess its just my tensioner. that is where my problem lies, i cant find any write ups are the tensioner. how do i tighten it? and does anyone have any decent pics from the side of a zc engine showing anything concerning my problem. thx!

You don't tighten the tensioner. It's spring loaded and auto-tensions. If you find it to be not working then you should replace it.

an older d-series tensioner is not an auto-tensioner. you have to set your engine to TDC, loosen the 14mm nut on the tensioner. turn the crank counter-clockwise 3 teeth and retighten that nut on the tensioner. should be fine then. check the other belts as well.

One more thing hahah.

For the past as long as I can remember I've been having this hiss'ing sound after I turn the car off for about 10 seconds. I'm guessing this could just be coming from the brake booster also. Ill just change that crap tomorrow then get back to this thread

That is exactly right.. except technically
it is a "bolt" instead of a nut on the tensioner.

But it you are right on, it does not move once it is locked down..

Squeeking on start up is probably just the external belts..

Are you sure it isn't your alternator belt?
