hey guys,

my 95 GSR is sitting in my garage for over 3 weeks now.
in order to avoid the flames, i've done a search, digged the service manual and tried everything i can do. spend much money on replacing parts and ****.

so here's my situation:

i was driving on the freeway, the car suddenly turned off itself.
so i pulled over, and tried to start the car again, but it only cranks not starting.
i can hear fuel pump spins and not getting engine check light on my cluster.

so what i've tried so far:

-new spark plugs and wires
-new fuel pump
-new main relay
-new ignition coil

i feel so stupid that i spent much money and still not having my car start
where else should i take a look at?
any inputs'd be appreciated.

did you check your engine grounds?

Haha i was just joking..just replace your whole distributor with a new one..or check your fuses like ecu fuse whatever...

 

does it get spark? could be coil or igniter

 

how do i check if it sparks?

well i replaced the coil but the car still don't start.

i checked all the fuses and they seem to be ok.

im not sure about replacing the whole distributer though. hopefully that's last step i would take .. oh man.

can anyone tell me how i can test if im getting sparks?

btw, what if i don't get the sparks.. what do i do?

 

take a spare spark plug and pull one of your plug wires. place spark plug into pulled wire. have a buddy turn the engine over while holding the threaded portion of the plug against a ground source(bolt or bracket) you should see spark. i would change cap and rotor and check timing. thats the least expensive way to start. i would also check firing order since you changed plug wires. GL

 

this problem happen to my car already is happen last on October 08 at the red light my engine just shut off and wouldn't turn on, Had to toll dat **** to the shop let them check it out i thought is the Msd blaster or the Msd6 or Distributor. All the check up the problem is distributor

 

i will check if it gets spark right as soon as my buddy arrives.
Akavietboy201, yea it happened on the free way and highway tow patrol came and had to push my car from the back. it messed up my rear bumper as well.
imma check the distributor tomorrow. i've read way too much thread and website regarding this matter today.. feel like my eyes are gonna pop out.

i tried to see if it sparks,, and i didn't see the spakrs commin through.

i replaced distributor cap and rotor but no pregress.

shall i try chaing the whole distributor ?

 

i would. by the time you find and order a icm and a coil and pay for it all you might as well just get a whole new dizzy. thats just my opinion. it's either that or break out the meter and actually find the issue.

 

i found out that oil leaked into distributor.

now time to find new distributor. well used one will work for me..

new one from the dealer.. they said it's 490$ or something.. crazy..

Well if it's cranking it's definitely not your ground. Check all your fuses, they just might be blown. Check the two ignition fuse, and check your starter signal fuse. Happened to be once because my o2 sensor was hitting up against the chasis. Dying on the highway is either that, timing belt broke, or clutch. Also get your alternator check out too.

 

he said he wasn't getting any spark now. topic starter i don't think its thats exspensive. their probly offering u the 400 bucks one ask for the 200 bucks one and u trade in ur distributor so you don't have to pay the core charge which is alot. and you get life time warranty anyways so! good deal. i got mines at autozone.
