HELP, Civic SI ECU identifications
I have been search google for a few hrs and getting frustrated. This is a very non-typical situation and cant find and answer to my questions.
I have a 2000 Civic SI that was stolen and only partially striped. Insurance fixed it but it is not running correctly. I remember when it was recovered, the ECU was out on the floor, but still plugged in. The shop put it back in place during the repair.
Now with it not running correctly, I decided to pull the ECU and see if it was the correct one (P2T). Well, I pulled it and the sticker has been removed. This tells me that it is 100% not ours, but I am having a hard time convincing the shop and insurance of that.
so... my questions:
1) is there any way to find out for sure if it is a SI ecu, or if its and EX/other?
2) Will and SI engine run off of an EX ecu? (the shop told me it wouldn't even run at all)

more helpful info:
The car on the mystery ecu current has these problems:
When cold, in open loop, it will idle on its own, but if I give it any gas, it will fall from the revs when I let off past idle and stall out. It is then hard to restart and diesels as if it is flooded.
Once warmed up, it will idle, but after a strong pull (50% or more throttle thru a few gears), if i put it right into neutral, it will drop to 900rpm, then bounce right up to 1500rpm, hang there for a while (2-5 seconds), and then slowly fall back down to the correct idle rpm (~8-900)
Edit: also, no CEL is tripped

my buddy had the same problem so we opened up the ecu and look for any serial or numbers we could find on the inside of the ecu. we found a few and just search for them on google. After a few seaches we found out it was a P2T after all
great idea, its sitting here in my lab as i type so I will do the same. You dont happen to remember any of the serials inside do you?
OK thanks rpared, I opened the ecu and right on the top of the plastic part that holds the plugs, hidden under the top metal cover is a sticker with the serial, and it says P2P.... EX ecu. problem discovered.
Now hopefully the shop isnt pissed i cracked open the ECU myself. Maybe I'll just put it back together and ask them to open it
