Girlfriend just got a 02 SE Accord. Are there any problems?
Hey, my girlfriend just got the SE accord. Its a 4cyl, 150hp VTEC model. Are there any recalls or anything that I should know about? Im really happy her, and she is too. But I heard about the ignition switches and all, but have they been fixed before the 02 model came out? I know its the last year so have most of the bugs been taken out? She got it from a dealer and is under warranty for 3 years so, anything I should let her and her dad know about? She wont be fixing it up though. Thanks guys!
there are no recalls that i have heard of for the 2002 SE. the only major recalls were for the 5th gen accord(balancer shaft seal and ignition for some accords).
the 2002 SE is a great car, we use this car a lot at my job and I really like it. It's just lacking the performance category.

Hey man congrats to you and your girl on the new car. I just picked up an '02 myself.
If you go to this link on the Honda website and register they have a place where you can put your VIN in and it tells you all recall info and such. Plus it has tips on how to take car of your car and some interesting reading.

Thanks guys. Yeah it does lack in the power areas, but I dont think my girlfriend cares...hehe...at least she got an accord
But yeah its a nice and smooth ride. However, I CANNT FEEL VTEC KICKING IN AT ALL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I tested it out but cant feel anything. What rpm does it kick in at, and is it just really subtle? I thought it would be like my old f22b1, but i didnt feel anything at all.

I am zero vtec expert here but isn't it supposed to be seamless? I thought honda designed the engines to have a smooth linear power band across the entire rpm range instead of power dying off after 4500rpm or so?
edumcate me if i be wrizong

I got the same care and if you wait till you get some miles and also some performance items on it you can tell vtec. Have fun with it.
that honda page should take care of your needs, but just in case:
http://www.nhtsa.dot.gov/
that also has TSB's on it.
