Does anyone beleive that raising the back of ur car helps ur car or harms ur car. i fell like it helps ur sixty foot but harms ur top end by creating drag. i just wanna know if it is true. i was gonna try both ways at the track but it will save some time by getting some feedback from u guys..

 

Set the car up on some scales and go from there. I dont agree with the rear end being raised 6" higher then the front. People think it helps but i dont think think it does anything other then look dumb.

 

I also can't see a rear rake from helping any, to keep things simple...SLAM that thing

u wont get enough weight transfer to really affect the front unless u put some hydros in the rear . but they dont work well with racing.

better off just buying a bigger tire for the rear & or harder suspension .

 

orrrrrr you can try using a real suspension setup rather then a 129059027490347 lbs spring in the back. Scaling a car and setting it up correctly does take a little bit of time and knowledge along with track testing but its worth it in the end.

If you guys stick those cars on a set of scales and see what raising the back ACTUALLY does you would probably laugh.

 

from what ive read if the rear of the car is up in the air on a fwd car when you launch the weight will transfer off the front tires because the car is trying to level itself out.

 

I thought that raising the rear would be better... Turns out after trying it at the track back to back it didnt help... It seemed like there was even more weight transfer... i did notice the 60fts going .01-.02 slower.... i do not have any suspension so to say. all i have is Stock shocks with some $100 coilovers... i average 1.71-1.72's all night long... i dont have $$ for some nice suspension so i have to deal with what i have... i was thinking of making some Hard rubber inserts that would sit inbetween the rear coils to harden the rear just for the track... anybody ever done something like that?

 

so what would be the proper weight distribution for a drag FWD if you were to corner weight the car?

 

some will disagree, some will agree, but to me and from what ive experienced, all that matters is that the two front corners are of equal weight when the car is in track mode. as for height, you gotta find what works best for your setup and your car.

When I corner balanced the allmotor race car years ago we sent the drivers side front a little lighter to compensate the weight of the driver (me). otherwise things were pretty equal all the way around.

 

...or put some weight equal to the weight of the driver, like plate weights, jugs of water, bags of sand, etc in the drivers seat and set the car up correctly. Why go through the hassle of corner balancing and "guess" about the compensation for the driver?

I would be kinda nervous racing with the back of a car that much higher than the front.
