Icon2 Starting Problem [newb]

hey whats going on guys.. ok, so one day my cars running fine and all right.. i shut if off for a lil while and then I go to start it back up again and it wont? i figured the battery had drained out due to the fact that i left the radio on for close to 2 hours while i was cleaning the car but its not the battery because i changed the old battery out with a brand new one and still nothing.. everything lights up as its supposed to but the motor will not turn over.. Could it be the starter or alternator? and if so what are some signs leading up to it.. thanks

Sounds like your starter, htap it with a small hammer a couple of times, if it starts you need to replace it. If it doesnt, check all your fuses.

have a buddy smack the starter a few times as you crank the car. or you can push start the car. if it starts, your starter is bad.

The car is ok when its jumped... ok... your alternator is ok but you have a starter issue. Pull it out and have it checked at auto zone, kragen, or a local parts shop that has a starter tester. If you jumpstart a car or push start one and it kicks on then restarts after being turned off for a while its the battery. But in your case its not restarting so its the starter.
