Lubrication...
My oil life is at 50% on my 2008 LX, so I'm starting to think about what I'll do for the first oil change. I believe I would like synthetic, but I'm also slightly interested in other aftermarket oils and oil products.
Anyone know anything about products like "Royal Purple", "Pro-Long", "Dura-Lube" etc. ?
Most of these products that I've seen compare themselves to "standard oil" which probably means conventional motor oil. Since I prefer synthetic oil, I'm not sure that any of these products would make a difference.
I did see a show of HORSEPOWER TV where they did a dyno pull in their 80's or 90's muscle car with stock fluids, (or standard sythetics?) then drained all the fluids of the engine, transmission and rear differential and replaced all fluids with Royal Purple oils and did another dyno pull. They netted an extra 3-5 hp and torque in their car that already made about 300 hp. So that's like a 1-1.5% power gain. Not much, but if all that is from lubrication I think that's impressive.
