I found a sick rear lip of my dreams.. but it only goes to 99-00 bumpers.. is there really a difference on my '98 bumper??

unless it's for a hatchback and you have a coupe/sedan, it will fit.

all 96-00 hatchback rear bumpers are interchangable, and all 96-00 coupe/sedan rear bumpers are the same

A rear lip for a '99-'00 coupe/sedan might not fit a '96-'98 coupe/sedan rear bumper (and visa versa).

All '96-'00 Civic hatch rear bumpers are exactly the same.

 

It's for a 99/00 2dr/4dr

 

i believe the rear bumpers are the same rom what the guy told me at certa fit. I believe its just the front the got a face lift.

the rear bumpers are not the same on 96-98 coupes and 99-00 coupes. i have one of each sitting at home and they are definitely different.

Remember, sedan and coupe rear bumpers are the same (for their respective years).

96-2000 rear bumper on a hatchback are all the same. 96-98 coupes and sedans are different from 99-00.

 

The add says it's for a 99/00 2dr/4dr... that's all. Nothing about a hatch.

Can you post a photo? I think you might be meaning "Honda Civic: Version 2 Style". So you might be referring to a '99-'00 OE rear lip or a '99-'00 OE Style rear lip (replica).

well if you cant tell from the pictures that nofx provided, on the 99-00 the bottom edge that tapers in has a smoother transition (especially toward the wheels) and the bottom edge sticks out more on the back than the 96-98 does. I have both style sitting here and my 99-00 oem style lip does not fit correctly on the 96-98 bumper. It just doesnt look right, it could be put on there but it would look bad, imo.

 

I made this special for you since you can't notice the difference between the rear bumpers.

Now this is a cut away for the bottom of the rear bumpers.
