hey my cuz got a code 41 for o2 senser and he's not gonna be using it for not much longer so is their any way he can just ignore it? he doesn't want to spend any more money on it since he's getting a new one but it lags pretty badly i think thats the problem so how can i get rid of that code ? without fixing it.... thnx

pull the bulb out. If he has a bad O2 sens then the car is going to run pig rich and burn a lot more gas figure on under 15mpg

but in all seriousness, what year is your vehicle?

if before 96, its OBDI. -disconnect your battery, disconnect your ECU, remove and wipe clean your o2 sensor (sometimes it helps, sometimes it doesnt in keeping the light off for longer)

if 96 or after, its OBDII. -Go to Autozone or Advanced Auto and ask if you can have the code reader. You have a CEL and dont know what it is. You just want to check it in the parking lot. They may give it to you, they may come out and check it for you. If they give it to you, there is a OBDII plug somewhere along your dash, if a civic its under the drivers side of the dashboard, its a female plug connection just WAITING for that male OBD checker...mmmMMm....lol...if they come out and do it, play it cool until he tells you what is wrong. Then depending on the person, ask him if he can erase to codes for you.

You can also do the same method as the OBDI, (unplug all connections and replug) with the OBDII, but you can take 10 min and go to autozone or spend an hour removing connections, getting to o2 sensor and cleaning and reinstalling.<---- Which i think will work better for you in the long run. My buddy had a o2 CEL in his accord and couldnt pass inspection. I disconnected battery, ECU, removed o2 and wiped it clean as best i could and his CEL for o2 didnt come back on for a long time.

 

how to ignore it? umm... just ignore it. srsly. It's not hard.

Actually, if you unplug the ECU for 15 seconds while the car is off then plug it back in, it may reset the code for a few days until it comes back. It won't permanently fix the problem, but it'll keep it from running open loop all the time until the error comes back.

Or, if you have a scanguage, you can reset the ECU everytime it comes on... Did that with mine on a bad O2 for a few weeks until I could get another one.

 

not literally just get rid of the code i think i hurd that its possible just to get rid of the code so that its not on limp mode....

 

Just to make this as clear as possible, you want it to drive like it's fine and have no light on, but not actually fix anything, right?

And you say it's in limp?

You can reset your ECU by disconnecting the battery, wait ten minutes, and then connect it again, but the code will come right back on as soon as the issue (or another) occurs again.

There are also spark plug non-foulers that you can put on, but I don't know how well those work or where you would get the correct size for your car.
