Default b swap with a/c

I just tarded my 91 hatch for a 91 crx it has a compressor in the car already and he gave me the ac bracket he used when he had the ls motor in the car.

Braket bolts up to b-block but compressor doesnt line up with bracket? Wrong bracket or compressor.

Any info will be helpful I want a/c with my b-swap

Hasport sells an AC bracket that allows you to use the CRX AC system.

Thats the route I went.

You need CRX AC compressor etc... and the swap bracket.

your best bet is that Hasport a/c bracket. It keeps everything lined up right and lets you use all your stock crx a/c lines.

The EF USDM civic/crx used two different compressors. The Hassport HCP brackets are designed to only work with the sanden compressor. You probably have the fujustu (sp) compressor. You'll need to get the sanden comp and charge/discharge lines, as they are different.

You might be able to use a b-series compressor and stock bracket if you change out the lower front brace and go with a traction control kit which offers more clearance. I am thinking of doing this because I don't see any other way to run AC and Power steering. (HCP and hassport brackets move the AC compressor up some.... and would block mounting of the ps pump!)

I am confused, Question 1 what bracket do you have and what car did it originally come from? Question 2, same as 1 but about compressor?

I understand now. I don't know how to tell you for sure. I can tell you at least there are bunch of differences in the power steering brackets I've found between the B-series mainly because the vtec b series head is shaped differently than non-tech in the accessory mounting area. My guess is the ac brackets would be the same.

You're gonna have to spend some time in the pick-n-pull junkyards to find something that works. Unless you're bolting it together upside down or something I can't think of anything else other than they gave you the wrong bracket.

Most of the brackets with B and D series are labeled with a letter and number. Check it out, you should at least be able to see what it is and find out what car it 'really' came from and research/ask questions from there.

In the end if you want to start over with a new compressor get the sanden and a hasport bracket. It WILL fit.

It's Sanden or Matsushitia and the Hasport bracket
from my experiance has mounting holes for either compressor.

{I installed one on a friend's car and it definitely has the Matsushita}

PS>The bracket that comes with the b16a1 labeled PR3 can easily be modified
to accept the Sanden style compressor as long as clearance with
the front crossmember is not an issue..

Thanks, that is what I was hoping to find out. I will be trying this
B16 with PR3 head will fit accessories:
PR3 Power steering bracket
PR3 AC bracket (modified, can YOU post more info on this)

Crossmember swapped out for innovative or full-race traction bar kit. (I could really use someone to measure difference gained on a b series in the accessory area)

Power steering pump from OBD0 B16 SIR

I am fairly certain fitment of the ps pump will require shaving of the engine compartment (behind drivers side headlight to squeeze it in there, due to the USDM CRX's having a different radiator and headlight support unlike the JDM/EDM SIR. USDM have a shorter nose section under hood/bumper which is why in general the hasport/HCP/and other motor mounts set the B16/b18 lower and a little further back in the engine compartment.

Why sure I can..
These are the two compressors:

The one on the left is a Matusuhita; The one on the right the Sanden..
The size of the pulley is the foremost clue or the tag should be in the areas indicated.

First off this is the PR3 bracket mounted to the b16a1:

The red line indicates the two holes that don't line up and
the green line indicates the two holes that do..
The #3 hole is the area you must grind flat and then drill and tap.
A fourth bolt could be added also but it really isn't necessary..

The area outlined in a brown triangle is the area that must be ground.

Before modification:

After:

I am using Hasport mounts so others might produce different results..

A dent was made in front of the compressor and in the stock crossmember for clearance.

Cool, thanks for the info, I'm pulling my HCP AC mount and going PR3 so I can run power steering for the wife. Cool.

BTW which compressor did you mount on the PR3, san or Mat? Is it safe to assume the mod is the same for both?

WRONG. The hasport bracket is made for both compressors. The Innovative mounts bracket is made for only the Sanden compressor. Please dont spread around false information.

U said you have the MATSUSHITA, and 88DXCRX clearly stated the modified bracket will accept the sanden. This means that u need to just buy the Hasport bracket and save yourself a huge headache and lots of confusion from your inability to read thoroughly. The hasport bracket is a simple bolt on and you can still use your stock A/C belt. Hasport makes this really easy.
