Default ej2 speedo problem

last week while driving, the speedo just died from being on 35. it goes on and off... could the problem be the vss, a fuse, or the cluster.
any info will be appreciated before i spend any money on the wrong parts.
by the way... its a D15B7 with an jdm si tranny.
thanks!

Could be your VSS or cluster but it sounds like it's doing what my old EJ1 did. I had a bad cluster. Replaced it with an LX cluster and it was fine. You can also just replace the speedometer in your cluster but I figure it's easier to just replace the whole cluster.
