WTB. Tow Dolley or a Trailer
hey guys, i was wonderin what are the average prices for a tow dolley or a step up trailer are, new and used, or if anyone has one or where i can purchase one in NJ, please let me know, thanks
Thats funny, because i used it liek 3 weeks ago on the turnpike, and the booth guy just gave me a trailer card, and didnt say a word, had to pay extra, thats all

Yeah i am not really a fan of tow dolleys neither, but i cant be choosy, but if i can find an open car for 700-100, thaat would be do-able, any idea where i can find some, i cant find **** in my area
I would stay away from car dollies, unless you are just planning to tow locally. They have terrible sway at HWY speeds and its a real beating on your rear suspension, especially if you have stiff rear springs...which if you are a FWD Drag racer, you already do.
I saved up my pennis and got a brand new open car trailer with all the fixings for 1900. I also added a electric whinch for another 360$.

anybody runing an enclosed trailer?? i'm looking to get one and am kinda looking to get something used but can't find much..if you got any info pm me anything eastcoast
i see some mis info and possibly a bit more.
I used my tow dolly back and forth to NYC down the NJTP a crazy amount of times...and probably oh...20times plus going to Englishtown. Not only have cops passed me....but i've passed them doing 75-80mph. I've had my tow dolly (being pulled by my v8 jeep grand cherokee)up to about 100mph with my car on the back coming back from Budds Creek MD last year because all i could do was think about my bed. Sway? noway. Not if its strapped properly. If its strapped properly and all wheels touching are in good shape including alignment it doesn't sway.
is a trailer better? without question since it makes it so much easier to pack up and leave at the end of the day. also...maybe because half the car was off the dolly...but i had no issues with stopping either and thats without electric brakes. The added weight of the trailer over the dolly i'm sure makes a difference.
trailer...better if you have the space and money
dolly...better if you don't have the space or money
Oh...another thing..in NJ(not saying if you take it out of state) doesn't have to be registered. registration is only like 7bucks....so tag it anyway.

Sway..You must not have any wind in NY
Here in Az, You are required to have Trailer brakes on anything over 2500Lbs.
100MPH with a dow dolley....Your Crazy! Dont get yourself or anyone else killed!

just about that. figure car is about 2100 and tow dolly is about 400.
and....i was alone at about 3am. but i do agree..in the wind its not recommended to take an suv at high speeds let alone a tow dolly

Actually.
I also wanted a car dolly pretty bad due to the price diffference and storage. I tried one by renting a dolly on trip to Cali, and I learned to hate them. My car does weigh around 2400Lbs so i ended frying the brakes on my truck. The sway was terrible due to the fact that most of the weight WAS NOT over the rear most axle. The stiff springs on my race car didnt help either. The *** end of my car was dancing everywhere at 60-65mph.
One other reason dollies are bad are because you have 2 swivel pionts. One at the hitch and another on the dolley, where the front wheels of your car attaches to the dolly. SO in other words, your Truck/Dolley/Car handels like a big rig hauling 2 box trailers. NOt good at ALL
Its best not to 1/2-*** it with a car dolly, invest in a flatbed/dual axle with brakes/ car hauler if you are planning to tow with some speed and at some distance. If you do decide to go with the dolly, I would keep it at 50mph (55 is pushing it). You should be OK

I bought my open trailer for $1650.00 with the following: Dual axle, electric brakes, 4 straps, electric brake controller, trailer hitch(the ball thingy), receiver lock, light harness adapter and I think that about it. My buddy is selling his trailor for a 1000 bucks with almost all the same features as mine.

either way, I'm trailer shopping right now...they have financing plans available. I guess I need to sell off my tow dolly then.
anybody wants it? I'm asking 400 bucks. It has a black platform and cameleon fenders and arm, oh and it has gunmetal rims

I ended up buying mine at the same place where they actully make them.
I did alot of shopping and comparing. I ended up paying a little more than at the dealers but one thing I noticed that the ones they sell at the trailer dealers are not even made in the country. It would be hard if you needed to make a warranty claim. Shop around and compare the craftsmanship. Buy straight for the maker.

ive been up to a few SCO's (that is firebird correct?) and ive NEVER seen that car there
Welcome to HT looks like we have 1 more person that knows what there talking about
They have terrible sway at HWY speeds .
Im thinking my car is front heavy and the rear suspension too stiff.....Thats what made mine such a bad candidate for the dolley
