No power. any clues
hey fellas. 98 honda accord ex here. Just the other day I was driving along, nothing outta the ordinary, but when i got out of my car I noticed that my power locks didnt work. WIth a puzzled look on my mug, i also tried the power windows. The Driver side controls will roll down the driver side windows (front and rear) but neither of the passenger windows. The passenger side windows to roll down but only from there own window controls.....So there is power there, and then i tried the unlock on the door lock of the passenger door. Ya know when you unlock it with the key all the doors unlock, well not this time. These are the only two items that are acting wack.
Radio and everything else is working normally.
Any ideas on where to start before i go about tearing out my hair and also the interior of my car looking for grounds. I do have the wiring diagrams available for both circuits.
Thanks in advance. BTW this doesnt have remote keyless entry.

The symptoms are identical to yours. Sounds like an easy fix.

brakedrum, I will give this a shot when i leave work today. I really hope it works, it does sound exactly the same.
The problem with this working though is that I canceled plans with the girl friend and invited some buddies over to drink beers and look at the car. Now if i fix it she will expect me to hang out with her. What a dilema.

Well, according to that TSB, the quirk in your car is that a multiplex control unit falls asleep and can be awakened by turning the key while another part is turned on. Trust me, old girlfriends work the same.
dooooooooooooooood, that **** worked!!!! Woohoo. I dont have to pull the passenger seat out and check the ground, i dont have to trace wires. Woohooo....Brakedrum, dont take this the wrong way, but i might just scream out your name the next time i have sex with my girl. Fortunetly that wont be tonite, I decided not to tell her i fixed it already.
Time to drink some beers and do some dumb ****.

Naah, don't be yelling car parts. Then she'll know the Honda is your first love. Glad the fix worked. it's good when it doesn't turn into weeks of testing and diagnosing and then a parts chase. It appears Honda came up with that quirky little fix to avoid recalling thousands and thousands of those multiplexors.

I only read this forum perhaps once a month but happened to log into it tonight. haha. Basically the Honda Technical Service Bulletin (TSB) says the following:
Repair Procedure:
1. turn the ignition switch off
2. turn the wiper intermittent time ring to the middle position.
3. turn the ignition switch to on.
4. check the operation of all the power windows from the master
power window swtch and the power door locks.
I'll not my gut feelings.
1-In executing the procedure it's important that the switch be completely off before doing anything.
2-The intermittent wiper ring (formerly called a wiper delay switch) MUST be set to the middle position or hash mark on the ring.
3-Turn the switch to the pre-ignition point, but DO NOT start the car. Pre-ignition basically means the "all systems go" point -- fuel pump will prime, etc.
4-Try the window and lock controls while the switch is in that position. If they work, your multiplexor is awake and you're done.
