Default Lets talk integra traction and how to get it

Ok, so the stock gs-r blades arent doing it at all... the car goes up in smoke in 1st, 2nd, and after it hits boost, 3rd gear too... my car is doing 440 whp and it has an lsd.

I was looking to invest in a set of wider 15inch rims but im not sure which ones to get... i was thinking either a set of rota gt3's or a set of kosei k1's... the more i research, the more im leaning towards k1's since they are the lighter of the two iirc. im looking at some sort of 15x7 and id like to put 215s or 225's under the integra fenders... would i need to roll the fenders or do some work to fit a 225? aftermarket wider fenders or fender flares?

Also, are the traction bars made by full race, etc really worth the investment?

im just trying to do whatever i can to get this thing to hook and i think that ditching these gsr blades are a good start. ive been searching the forum for a few days now and am having difficulty getting info... any help would be awesome

Depends a lot on how low you are, but you'll most likely have to roll the lip on the rear fenders to fit 225s.

I have no problem in the front other then scraping on the plastic sometimes,
which also happened with normal size tires even.

1. Learn how to drive.
2. Get stickier tires.
3. Possibly traction bars if that doesn't work.

the problem here is probably your tires, not your wheels. are you driving on all-season tires?

Yup. You definitely need stickier tires, not different wheels. Just remember, the main factor in traction is the kind (make/model) of tires you have, not the size of the tire or the size of the wheel. I bet your tires are indeed all-seasons! Although even some of the normally decent longer-lasting summer tires (e.g. Yokohama S.drive) may not give enough traction for your high-horsepower application.

If you're looking ONLY for straight-line traction at the dragstrip, then get some drag radials, such as the BFGoodrich g-Force T/A Drag Radial 205/50-15, $134/tire with free shipping at Discount Tire Direct. These tires are designed for maximum acceleration. They also have sidewalls that are reinforced to withstand the deformation that occurs with reduced air pressures commonly used at the dragstrip to increase the size of the footprint ("contact patch"). However, I don't recommend them for street use, because they're expensive and they don't last all that long (maybe 5K miles, LOL!) and between that and the high price, there's no sense spending all that money on the street. If you go to the dragstrip frequently, you might want to get an extra couple of wheels and swap these on for dragstrip use only.

For street use, you need a set of the "supersticky" summer tires, which will give you the traction you need. Here's how I would rate them in terms of grip, starting with the absolute stickiest, and some of the best prices you'll find:

1. Dunlop Direzza Sport Z1 Star Spec 195/55-15 $94/tire with free shipping at Discount Tire Direct
2. Kumho Ecsta XS 205/50-15 $92/tire plus shipping at Tire Rack
3. Toyo R1R 205/50-15 $116/tire plus shipping at TireDeals4Less.com
4. Toyo R1R 195/55-15 $104/tire plus shipping at TireDeals4Less.com
5. Falken Azenis RT-615 205/50-15 $85/tire with free shipping at Discount Tire Direct

The Azenis typically lasts 10-12K miles, the others a bit more, maybe 15-20K miles. They will give you the traction you're looking for. Your tires may still spin - that's a heck of a lot of horsepower for an Integra, and they might even spin with the Drag Radials - but at least these will give you better grip than what you've got (and you won't have to spend $500+ every 5K miles to replace them, LOL).

Unless your car is setup for the strip you're going to have problems in 1st-3rd gear... I don't care what tires or wheels you have. 440whp is difficult to put down in a FWD car, period.

But you'll still get better grip with stickier tires...

I'll be driving the car about 20 miles to work each day for the next month or so. the stock gsr blades should fit each of these tires right?

what is your turbo setup like? do u have lsd? what type of engine management are u using? Most of the decent engine management systems have boost by gear capability, and with 400+ hp on the street the only way to hook up is to setup boost by gear.

when i drove my car on the street, I used drag radials, and I ran it off the wastegate spring in 1st and 2nd, then cranked it up in 3rd, 4th and 5th
