rsx type-s oil consumption
what could be causing oil consumption (1 qt per 700 miles) in my rsx? no leaks or smoke seen. I do accumulate a black soot from exhaust on my rear bumper...however, I read this is from the engine running too rich. please help!!!!!!!!!!!!

my compression is great in all 4 cylinders......I have also changed my PCV valve..thinking it is the crankcase ventillation system. I do have a CAI...I don't know if this is messing up vacuum pressures. It's either the oil retainer ring, valve stems, or the PCV system.
But, which one is the question. Any advice?

Each piston has an oil control ring below the compression rings, which wipes excess oil from the cylinder walls with every downstroke and leaves a light film on the cylinder wall to lube the piston. If the compression rings aren't sealing very well, it's common for hot combustion gases to leak past and cause the oil control rings to clog with carbon. The oil control rings eventually seize into the groove on the piston. Once that happens, they can't wipe effectively, and the oil makes its way past the compression rings and into the combustion chamber.
Not necessarily.
Compression test results WILL tell you if you're burning oil or not.
you can have near perfect compression and burn oil at the same time
heres an engine that is notorious for this
