air to fuel gauge question
i was looking into getting an air to fuel gauge and it says it works right off the 02 sensor... my question is will it work off my stock sensor or will i need to get a wide band sensor?
Depends on what your doing wit it are you going to be tuning a turbo car or just want it for looks. If you just go buy some autometer on or sunpro w/e there about as usefull as the light bar on the front of KnightRider which is pretty much for show. Depends on how much you wanna spend in my opinion I would get an AEMugo wideband. The only problem wit using the stock o2 is that youd only be getting an narrowband signal doesnt do much. long story short (wideband)
Where would the purple wire go into a p2t? Should I use Primary or Secondary O2?
Would using a cat affect connecting into Secondary O2?
Here's the P2T pin readout options...
[A8 - SO2S HTC]
[A23 - SHO2S]
[C1 - PO2S HTC]
[C16 - PHO2S]
Should the 12v ig (red) and ground (black) go into the ECU as well or tap into another source? I already have a VAFC hooked up to [B1 - IGP1] and [B20 - LG1]
Thanks

the purple wire goes to the signal wire on the o2 sensor which is the white wire. you will use the primary o2 sensor, that is the sensor that reads your a/f ratio. the secondary o2 is basically to tell your ecu if your catalytic converter is working correctly. never connect anything directly to the ecu, your 12v source wire should be connected to a keyed power source and is fused. jokeefe the reason your o2 sensor has more wires is because it is a heated sensor which doesnt make it wideband. but basically like what turboedsohc was saying its a pointless tool and only good for show purposes.
I would have to agree with Turboedsohc on everything he has stated. if your just going to buy one of those autozone AFR gauges you would have better luck drawing on cardboard with crayons and mounting that up. If your doing something in which it requires you to read your AFR's you need a true wideband. I would suggest plx devices that are cost effective and come highly recommended from HONDATA plus it is what I own and so far it has been great.
i have the autometer air to fuel gauge and it is pointless, it just bounces around senselessly.... It knows when your on the throttle and when your off it.... thats about it. It came with my car.... it's kinda fun but wideband is what you need if you want some real accuracy.
im swapping out my stock cam for the A6 one for a 91 crx si. and bumping the compression up a little with a thinner head gasket. and your basic bolt ons.
