As long as you get the cam caps line honed with the head, you can make use of the head.

The caps have to be matched to the head they are going on.Aline boring or honing does that. The caps would need to be bored or honed every time they are used on a different head.

The cams were stolen from my B18C1 and I bought some random B17 caps to fit it. I sent the head to a machine shop with the new caps to be line honed and never had a problem.

I picked up a head without caps for cheap and had to find a set of caps and rockers from another gsr head. As long as you choose a good machine shop, you should have no problems. They'll check out the head to make sure its useable and all the good stuff. Also, I'm not sure what you consider milling the head, but resurfacing it would be more suitable. Dont remove too much material unless you've already thought out your complete setup.

There's nothing to really "expect" when you get the cam caps line honed with the head. Its just machine work done to ensure the cam journals are fit to the head and not unbalanced or out of round..

you can have this done but when you line bore a head your taking away when there is no tolerance this is not like a block where you can take away and measure and add bearings to make it correct if you have to line bore a head ever your changing whats all ready correct and you cant add to it to make it the way it was when bored and you may not have any problems now but you will and if your like me im not spending 8000$ on a motor and have to worrie about this down the road plus for what this guy needs for this head to make it complete is going to cost about twice what they go for
ps: i know him

Do they also need to be bored and honed if the camshaft are different?

i have a GSR head that i broke a valve on and messed it up... can i transfer everything from it to my bare type r head?

I can get the cam caps line honed, what about all the rockers, shafts and crap for vtec?

will i be fine transferring parts from a complete head to a completely bare one?

Yes everything will transfer over. Just get the caps line honed to make sure they match the R

It can be done, but do not remove much material since there are no cam journal bearings. A Helm manual should have the specs for the bore diameters. A hone would be preferred.
