I want to get about 200+hp out of my h23 without doing to much major work. anybody know how i can do that or have any ideas? i dont want to turbo it or do a complete rebuild if possible. I am new to this so don't kill me on replies.
i want 6 pack abs but i don't want to do much work, does anyone know how i can do this?
do some more research bud. some friendly word of advice, be sure to use the search function before you post a thread that's been beaten to death. welcome to the board.

Ouch...but nicely said. I know you're new so I'll put in plain english, There is NO way to gain 40+ HP from an H23 without putting some effort into it. Like my buddy above mentioned, search for threads regarding this issue and read their opinions and then compile them into what YOU think you should do to gain that power.

Get a stronger hampster and a tighter rubber band. LOL Seriously though, maybe a H22 head, with cams and a port & polish. Then a tune. You might be able to get to 200. 200hp at the crank at least.

either FI or cams. Your looking at well over 5000 to get over 200+ on an h23. It would likely be cheaper to drop an h22 or do a vtec head swap and tune it. This would get you close to 200 and would be less than 1000 I would think. Vtec head should go for 200-300 if in good shape. Socketed/programable ecu is around on average 150. Than what ever it costs you for a tune.
ofcourse if you do a full motor swap its more than 1000. That was just for the head swap

h motors respond well to full bolt ons and a tune, ie cams, pistons, vt, cam gears, rods, header(or turbo), but just throwing a header and a intake isnt going to get you anywhere
you could just buy a dsm turbo kit. Dsm turbo, 1g bov, dsm turbo manifold (have to redrill 1 hole to make it fit), dsm smic, dsm 450cc injectors, tune on freeware, make a custom downpipe, buy the little odd ends and call it a day. You'll hit 200whp and probably spend under $1000 tuned.
Alright well you guys pretty much killled me! I have done some research I was just askin for ideasand it looks like I will have to do more work than i thought which shouldn't be too much of a problem.
Thanks

mate if you ever find out how to get a decent amount of power out of your H23a let me know as ive got one as well, but am getting the picture that its not worth it just get a h22 vtec....
arcnz you missed the point. H23 isn't a bad motor. It just takes a bit of money and work to hit 200 whp. If you factor the money you need to swap a motor I think in the end you should just boost the h23. It doesn't take alot to hit 200 with a turbo setup even on an h23. As prudz-lude mentioned a DSM setup is inexpensive and can give you 200 no problem. For under 1000 you could hit probably 200-220 (ball park guestimate) on a dsm turbo I would assume. I did it for 1200 but that was with doing the tuning myself. If I lived in the states with more connections it could have been cheaper for sure.
