question about upgrades for STS, FPR/chip related
the rules allow me to replace either the fuel pressure regulator OR the ecu. i currently have an aem intake, comptech header and comptech exhaust.
i remember seeing a review a while back in C&D where they tested chips for various cars (dinans chip for BMW 3-series, etc) and found little to no performance difference. but those were stock cars. will the extra air being moved now provide a chip tuner an opportunity to boost power any? the race shop that sponsors one of the autocross groups i race with wants to sell me a custom chip they get from a previous associate who does the programing. it isn't user adjustable, so i wonder how good the program can be, and if i make changes down the road (say moving to DSP and upgrading the intake manifold, etc.) if i would want something different in the program.
would i be better off with the FPR? or are neither worth the investment?
thanks,
phil

Hmm, not sure what chips are available for your car (my guts says none, all i've seen are for VTEC y0!).
Also, Hondas tend to run a bit rich from the factory, so the addition of I/H/E usually doesn't require a chip. I've seen VAFC type units give a few peak hp.
In other words, I'd put the money elsewhere for now.

i would invest in an S-AFC and tune it on a dyno. Or put the chip in and see what the dyno sez about it, if you like it keep it.
