VWs and Hondas use the same parts?
Ok before I commit to buying some KYB AGX struts off of someone I wanna know if this is true. He says that originally the struts came off a 93 civic and then they were put on his 91 GTI and now he is parting it out. Does anyone know anything about this? He also says front and rear strut bars from his car are from a GSR too.
I could understand maybe if the strut bars are the adjustable ones you can pick up off ebay...as for struts and all that...no clue. Could take pics of everything or try a test fit and then buy them too.
Im just going from memory here, but that is way wrong. Vw's usually have larger diameter springs like the macpherson struts that the newer honda's use. I would call BS

90's VW's (probably newer ones, too) used front McPherson struts and separate rear shocks and coil springs (not coilover-type spring/shock assemblies like Hondas use). There is absolutely no possible way a Honda shock application could fit a VW GTI.
Even the strut bars wouldn't work, either, as VW's have a 3-bolt upper strut mount, while Hondas have a 2-bolt upper shock mount, and then separate studs on the shock tower for the OEM tower brace.
Your guy has no idea what he's talking about.
