do my suspension?or swap motors?
i'm trying to take 1 sec off my track time, and a friend said i should do my suspension(tokico blue shocks, thicker springs, front, and lower rear strut-bars).i have a ls with a B-tranny.i was thinking of getting rid of the ls and dropping in a b20-vtec.i thought that would take off a sec on my track time but my friend said that doing the suspension will do it instead(traction).what do you guys think?

1) Tokico HP "blue" shocks are a pretty crappy suggestion for performance shocks. They're really only OE replacements.
2) Are we talking about autoX/road-racing or drag racing here? Strut bars won't do jack for drag racing. They really won't do all that much for other racing, but in autoX/road racing, you can easily take several seconds off your lap times by improving your driving skills. Switching to stickier tires if your class allows can also take several seconds off lap times.
3) An LS already has a B18B engine, therefore already has a "B-series" tranny. I assume you mean you have a B18C1 tranny on it.
4) If we're talking about drag racing, it's pretty doubtful that suspension would take a full second off your ET. You could do super-stiff rear springs (which would need VERY good shocks, like Bilstein HD's), but really slicks or drag radials and traction bars would knock a ton off your 60' times, which would translate into quicker ET's, and would probably make more of a difference than just suspension work.

i have a ls with a b16 tranny...not a gsr tranny.so i go through gears real quick(short throws).my buddy was trying to tell me that i need better traction, and that my motor is fine....

Probably drag racing. And by better traction what he probably really needs is better 60-foot times. I'm guessing your 60-ft. times are in the 2.3-2.5 second range? I've seen cars with slicks and traction bars get 60-ft times down to around 1.5-1.7 seconds, so that could definitely help with ET's, much more so than any other suspension mods you could do.
