hey guys and gals before i start trying to find the problem myself i figured i'd see if anybody else has any idea what could be the problem

it's a 88 hatch and nothing on my hatch works ( defroster, brake light on wing, and the wiper)

the bulb on the brake light was blown i replaced and still didn't work
the light for the defroster button turns on but the defroster doesn't work
the defroster fuse was blown i replaced it and still didn't work

it sounds like some type of short was wondering if anybody had any ideas before i start working on it

i had a similar problem on my 90 si but only the brake lights weren't staying on,Ended up being my daytime running lights relay.I was told that only the 90-91 have that though?Gl

 

I was fixing my hatch harness and I noticed that one wire was cut and the other one was about to. The weak spot where I discovered is located by the right side hatch hinge, enclosed in that rubber hose seal thingy. You can check for voltage and continuity using a plug that is located by right tail light (on the inside of the chassis). That will help you eliminate if you problem is hatch harness related. when i got my car, the dome light didn't work, neither did the interior lights in the rear. i have no radio, just wires haning out. i tried replacing the fuse, but it kept blowing every time i'd hit a bump, or close the door ect... one day i put a fuse in and the light stayed on even when i closed the door. then i decided to push the wires in the head unit hole. long story short..er.... check for some loose wires under the dash somewhere, fuse panel, something touching...
