Default light in the hatch

That light in the hatch mysteriously stopped working one day, When I pump my system it tends to vibrate the light/housing and it falls out of its hole dangling by the wires. The bulb is not blown(i even tried a new bulb), the connection seems secure, i flick the switch and still doesn't work. Does anyone know what the problem may be? Thanks

Make sure the switch on the light is "On"
Use a multimeter:
check for 12V between the two wires in the light's harness.
If this fails:
Check for continuity between the Positive lead in the harness, and a good ground on the body.
If this Passes:
Check to make sure that your "Hatch Open" light comes on when you start the car and leave that hatch open.
If this passes:
You have a broken ground wire from the light's harness.

The light is ground-actuated, so the trunk-open switch uses the light's ground wire to turn it on.
