Oversized Piston? (friend needs help he's doing all motor H22)
ok here's his question
he has a Del Sol with an H22 in it
im going all motor with my prelude H22 motor......... is there any problems i should know of if i bore my block from 87mm to 90mm...... and of course the block is gonna be sleeved
As long as he has the proper pistons/rings and enough clearance in the block, then I say go for it. Increasing the bore will only help the car, but make sure that you run the car a little richer than normal, since the larger bore makes detonation more likely.
i wouldnt go to 90 mm
alot of ppl i talk to go from stock 87 to 89.. its to risky with 90mm
i ve talked to several ppl in the prelude and most go 89mm i am going that too..
you need to have them resleeved in iron ductile sleeves.. and over bore.. also.. what is his reason for using new pistons. if he goes NA i am sure he wants them high compression. dont the h22 have like 10 somethign???
plus with 90 you ll eat up head gaskets too..
