Default 02 si, k20a2 swap or jrsc?

Please don't freak out and tell me to search i am not an ep guy or a k guy for that matter, i just have a friend with an 02si and he wants a bit more power out of it, if he does the k20-r swap it will stay stock.

Question is do you think its better for him to just do the k20-r swap or just JRSC the ****? I think the JRSC is not a bad option, i know the k20-r has WAY more potential but he will never mod it.

Or what about kraftworks, i see they have a kit also?

Open to other options also, i am not really up to date with whats all available for ep guys...

Thats what i'm thinking, i know JR claims something like 230-240whp for the jrsc EP, is this anywhere near true?

Would he be adding additional mods with jrsc? If he would than i wud get jrsc. One its cheaper for just the sc but he will also get more power if he adds additional mods prolly somewhere between 230-250whp. Depending on the mods of course. Itr motor wud only get him around 200 at the crank.

I made 202whp NA K20A2...

Then if you add the JRSC? Could be fun

what mods do u have. And the TS stated that his friend has k20a3. So it wudnt be comparable to your 202whp in ur k20a2. But if u added a jrsc it wud prolly hit between 250-270whp. Pretty nice. Just need to get better injectors to handle the power. Maybe some FI cams for some more power!!!! Lol!!

Both will stay stock, this would be a one time upgrade which makes me think the k20a2 will be better, looks like JRSC on stock setups only make about 175whp and your still left with a 5 speed

Cost is not an issue here but thats no reason to buy the most expensive thing imo and thats why i started this thread.

if cost is not an issue than i would go k20a, the k20a2 wud only bring it up to about 170

Sorry if i am not being clear guys I am not too familiar with the K engine codes but if a new K went in it would be the JDM DC5 ITR Engine.

A2 swaps are becoming cheaper. I love the jrsc and the race kit will net you around 230whp with boltons. However there are many reports of it ripping the belt. I like either a k24a2 swap or a k20a2 both with six speed trannys. I know a kid who just picked up a k20a2 for 700 dollars. YOu just need to look around.

TS has repeatedly stated that the motor going in would be the JDM K20A-R, yet everyone in here is comparing the blown A3 to an NA USDM K20A2.

K20A- six gears, easily over 200NAwhp, spins 9 grand.

blown A3- five gears, 190whp, torquey, and makes a really cool noise.

personally id go with the K20A-R, there is nothing more reliable than a factory spec honda motor, and the car would still be reasonably quick.

reading> u.... the TS stated that its either his friend does a swap for a K20A or SC... which means if he supercharges it, it would be on the A3...

Its either Swap or A3 with SC...

thank you everyone, i think the swap now may be the better choice, i don't want him to have to deal with belts slipping/ripping etc... he's an older guy and cannot have a car that "could" break down. OEM reliability FTW!!

SC is very reliable but just like your engine you need to maintain it or else you will lead to problems... I would go SC more power!!!

well if you look at it like that the same could be said for a turbo car, but the point of a daily is to have as little on the maintenance schedule as possible, thats why i kept my daily stock.
