SCAT rods wont fit in the cylinder bore???
!!!!!Problem solved I got them to fit with a little bit of sanding.!!!!!
Like the the title states my SCAT rods wont slide inside the cylinder bore. They will go in buts its really tight and I don't want to scratch the bore. Its a d16Z6 stock bore with just honing done.
Would it be ok to sand down the edges of the rods just enough to get them to freely slide down the bore?

Thanks for any info.

take you block to the machine shope and have them machine a line out so that they will fit all dseries blocks are like this when you put in aftermarket rods.
I know about the nothing of the block. The problem is I cant even get the rods down to the crank to see where and how much needs to be notched. The rods are to wide to freely slid down the piston bore.
DO NOT sand, grind or alter the rods it is not good!!!!! If the rods won't go down the bore something else is not right you need to figure out what is wrong before you do anything
OK I have to put the pistons on the rods and then slide the rods down the bore to the crank.
I KNOW ABOUT THE NOTCHING OF THE BLOCK. THE ROD WILL NOT FIT INSIDE THE PISTON BORE!!! There microscopically to wide to fit in the piston bore.

I know this prob.
Take them to a machine shop and let them a hundred or tenth so mm of equally on each side.
There is more then enough material.
The machine shop will know what to do if you explain them the problem.
Don't do it yourself, the machine shop will shave each side equally.

Stock bore? Did you buy the rods new? I had an old set of Tuner Toys rods that were to big for the bores as well it seems the first run of them were to big to fit down the bore I contacted them and they swapped them out.Don't know much about the Scats but you might see if thats been an issue with them as well.

It is fine to shave them to fit. I had the machine shop do it to my Probe I-Beams. Couple Thousands. The catch is you want to do this step before you balance your rods preferably, or check the balance after you do so. And remember, metal is like wood, always sand with the direction of the grain for a smooth finish.
Problem solved With a little bit of sanding they now slide all the way down the piston bore. Now I just have to wait on UPS to show up with my pistons and I'm going to find exactly how much needs to be notched.
I hope you didn't sand them yourself. Rods have a certain weight to them once you start shaving material its obviously going to throw the balance out of whack. You needed to have a machine shop EQUALLY take the same amount off each side.
wow, Everyone told you to go to a machine shop, but you still sanded them yourself
...That is going to throw the balance off, that car really mess sothing up later down the road...just my .02

Rods and pistons don't all weight the same anyway. I would be surprised if he even took a 1/8 gram off each one. People polish bearing journals by hand and sand off sharp edges off of pistons all the time with great results. Machine shops aren't doing black magic in the back room. They are cutting metal.
OP Unless you used an angle grinder or an axe you'll be fine...

I didn't remove enough material to throw the balance off. I used sand paper to just knock the vary edge down. I'm not worried about it. But thanks
