Default Converting 91 CRX to Manual, Worth it?

in the the market of buying a 88-91 ef civic crx.
planning on paying someone to do a swap.

found a decent 91 crx for 800, its an auto tho.
i love the look of the crx over the same year civic.

at the end of the day, could i pull of a manual b18a1 swap into an auto crx for about 2k including labor? if i couldnt i guess i would be happy with a d16z6 or zc?

unless you got the motor really really cheap then id say no. labor is crazy now. if you did it yourself you prob could but still only if you got the motor really cheap. your gonna need mounts cuz it wont just drop in n ur gonna need custom shiftlinkage. you should just do it yourself. its not hard. the hardest thing well for most people is the wireing since im sure its a dx so its dual piont injection. your gonna need to swap it over to multi poit injection. its not hard if you have all the parts. its only like 6 wires that you have to run. and going from auto to manul isnt hard at all ur gonna have to get manual pedles n dedending on if you go wit a d series or a b series then you will need the clutch cable n throttle cable to what ever motor you deside to go wit. youl have to run wires from your auto shifter to the reverse switch on the tranny. n just leave the switch thats in your auto shifter in there just tuck it under the plastic but make sure its in park or nutural other wise it wont start and there is these dust shealds that are on the back of the hubs where the axles go through that u have to pop out wit a screw driver if you do go with the b series cuz the axles are biger. your best bet if you dont have much money is to buy a wrecked 90 -91 integra 5 speed then you will have everything but a dohc zc swap would go just about as good. some people might not agree but but ive had n driven some pretty fast dohc zc's and there cheap. the ls will have more potentaul but its up to you. hpe that helps

There are way more manual CRX's out there than auto ones. I say pass on this and wait for a proper 5speed to come around, it'll be easier in the end.

I'd recommend waiting and investing in a manual CRX. Like hushypushy said, there are WAY more manual CRX's out there than autos.

Auto to manual swap is pretty easy. Especially if you are doing a swap already. After the swap its just a pedal set and minor wiring for the reverse lights.

Why would you feel ashamed? Mine was too and I feel proud. All those years she was just puttin along shifting gears for the driver, now she just sits back and lets me do all the work.

if you look in the market place, you an find complet ls swaps for around 1000. buy some shift linkage, and mounts, another 200 or so. thats 1200. if anyone charges you 800 bucks labor to install an engine, theyre on crack! its do-able. look around and don't buy the first thing you see. be frugal with your money on stuff.
