Default 93 Integra RS - boosted b16 build.

Hi guys. This is my current build. Its a 93 integra rs. It currently sits with a b17 from a 93 gsr and ys1 short gear trans. P/S delete with a 91 crx si manual steering rack. A/C deleted, Oddesy small battery, urathane motor mount inserts, cusco front strut bar, clutch master 6 puck, 8 pound flywheel, ctr crank pulley, koni yellows with ground control coilovers, vis c/f hood, gs hatch with wing, 93 gsr cluster, oem armrest, rsr gt2 exhaust, dc sprots 421 header, intake with k&n, and probably some other stuff I'm forgetting.

I have a build thread on tristatetuners that I'm going to import over to H-T, so the read will be copy and pasted.

I had plans to build my previous 91 integra, but on a drive home from work one evening a deer decided to change my plans. I kept driving it for 2 months with plans to fix the damage, but decide it just was not worth it.

After doing a lot of work to my friends boosted hatch he asked me if I wanted to buy his motor from his integra, or just buy the entire car and the work that I did on his car would take some of the price off his already really low friend price that he already wanted. I thought about it for a few days and drove the car for 2 days more and decided to go against my ways of never buying modded cars. The price he was offering it to me was just too good and I'd hate to see it go to someone else.

Heres what she looked like when I first got it:

Dented fender due to my friend being angry at his g/f, he didn't take very good care of the car. When I got it, it had a horrible brake pulse, bad axle vibration, and very very black oil.

First order of business was to do an oil change and cut the rotors. I had some extra time at work one night so I took advantage and dropped the oil from the pan and machine the rotors on the brake lathe, come to find out the slides were stuck and wore the outside pads to about 2/32 while the inners were still 9/32.

Damn car is so low this is what it takes to get it on my lift

Yup thats my bay and thats my toolbox on the right.

Welcome to the ranch, this is where I keep my horses.

I also decided to do a rotate and balance that night while I had the wheels off, to my surprise the previous shop to mount tires and do the balance had no idea what they were doing. The wheels were way off and didnt have ANY weights on the outside.

Next order of business was to replace the axles and brakes. Didn't get a chance to snap any pics of that. Oh well. But yay for the car that shaking like crazy anymore under a load.

I noticed the passenger side headlight starting to yellow badly, so on a cold afternoon I pulled into the garage and put on the heater and went to work removing the bumper and light.

Heres a before shot for an idea:

Supplys needed:

And after:

Oh yay look what came:

Got a plate bracket too as you can see in other pics.

Yay more parts!

abes intake manifold

ARP head studs, but im not sure if I'm going to be using these anymore since I'm leaning towards using an b18 block now.

Golden Eagle cam gears

New dust guards

Chipped p61 ecu with lower vtec crossover and remapped fuel curves, haven't tried it yet, and when the motor is built i'll be tuning with hondata anyway.

DB guage cluster - not the easiest thing to find

ES master kit

Hondata anti heat transfer intake gasket

New injector seals

Omni power dual valve springs and titanium retainers

Rear strut bar

OEM valve cover....needs paint.

I had a set of 90-91 tails laying around and decided to try out the superclean mod.

A before and after to compare

90-91 tails are pink and kinda funny looking in the top section. Using superclean removes the pink lines and leaves you with a nice white, kinda like on EM1 civics.

And on the car

Found myself bored one night and decided to start stripping the valve cover. Also discovered that when mixed with water, paint stripper puts off very bad fumes.

Still deciding if I should put a layer of clear over top, I think it will keep the sticker from falling off.

Oh jeez, more c/f. Oh and I got a new camera so had to take some pictures.

VIS hood. The old hood was also c/f, but was cracked and sprayed flat black, which will be used for a winter hood. Also notice no more dented fender, yay for parts cars.

Its a used hood, but besides for the scratch on the front, im very happy with it.

3 days ago I got the sudden urge to install my gsr cluster. Didn't take as many pics as I planned but heres what I got.

Cluster in with everything still apart.

And all together. Yay for 9000rpm tach and 8000rpm redline. Wish I would have done this 3000 miles ago, I didnt realize how close the mileage was! Oh well.

I don't have any recent pictures of my car good enough to put in here but I'm going to do a quick update and I'll hopefully come back tomorrow with some pictures.

I guess I'll just list them as I remember them happening.

I replaced the valve cover a long time ago.

I gave the car a alignment back in september and realized just how bad my bushings were getting and that I've been putting my ES bushing kit off for too long already.

The car now has a painted hatch on it with a stock GS wing.

I took the 90-91 tails back off and put the 92-93 tails back on.

The JDP c/f lip saw its final days this past summer and now I'm rocking a stock gs lip. I painted it and then decided to go into someones yard one night and now I have to paint it again.

I cleaned the engine bay to get ready for the KOP honda meet that got rained out.

I also polished the headlights again.

I bought a 1998 Chevy Cavalier about 2 months ago. I've been driving it for just about a month now. The Integra is parked for winter.

As for the most recent updates, I bought a b16 shortblock today from a fellow in NY and it should be here sometime this week. I also have a bid in on some rods on ebay. Lots of plans are coming for the car. This MIGHT become a civic build depending on how much rust a find when I start grinding it away.

I'll post the most recent pictures I have of the car, which are about 6 months ago

Update on my block:

The guy said that paypal told him they couldn't do anything and that'd he'd have to call the bank which then told him to call paypal or some ****. He then said it wasn't his problem and that he wasn't going to ship the block since he didn't have the $$$. So after talking through a few heated PM's on b20vtec the dude all of a sudden scheduled a return on my payment, that is currently still pending. I have a feeling it won't go through but hopefully im wrong. I wish this ****ing dude just shipped out the **** I paid for and dealt with his mistake himself.

So I guess my hunt for a block continues.

New updates:

I got my money back from that guy in New York. I was kinda surprised it went through.

I found another block in Broomall which I picked up yesterday.

Here are a few quick pictures I took last night when it was freezing cold in the garage. I wish I would have snapped a picture of the motor block sitting on the passenger seat of my cavalier.

Can anyone recommend a good machine shop in bucks county? I'd like to get some price quotes on what I want done to the motor.

I sent a few e-mails back and forth to Ray at Speed Equipment. I will be dropping the block off tomorrow or friday to be hot tanked, pressure tested, and have the main bores checked for alignment.

I bought a 1g DSM BOV of a friend for pretty much free, its uncrushed for now, should be good for at least 15psi.

I also picked up a obd0 injector box so I can run peak and hold injectors.

I almost bought some 2.5" cold side and 2.0" hot side I/C piping but at the last minute decided not to and just stick to getting my block done at the moment.

When I was picking up a bunch of stuff to sell I decided to take a few pictures of my car in its current state of hibernation. Cosmetic things that are different are the OEM front lip and the painted rear hatch with wing.

AND last but surely not least, here is my current winter beater. Picked her up for $500 bucks. 1998 Cavalier RS with 150k. Hoping to sell it this summer and pick up a s-10 to haul my quad in.

Thanks man! The valve cover surprised me too. I just did it with old paint I had laying around and I got that shocker sticker for free.

Look what came today!

I got this super deal on this charge pipe kit. Its from the turbonetics kit. 2.5 cold and 2.0 hot, Turbonetics raptor BOV, and the Turbonetics downpipe.

I'm selling the downpipe because I have no need for it. I'm also selling my 1g DSM bov as well. Pm me for info.

My motor should be done at Speed Equipment on Monday. Well at least done for now, more machine work will come later.

Ok guys I got some new updates.

Tonight I should be buying a intercooler that slapped me in the face, couldn't pass it up.

Next up is the update on my block. Ray sent me a email this morning about the updates. Here is his email

We still have to check align bore, should be done by Friday. The only question I have is are you going to want to put ARP studs to hold main caps on block. If so, this should be done before checking align bore. Most people who use ARP studs if they are going to use their motor for high performance purposes.

Crankshaft checked out okay as far as it has NO stress cracks.
Also, the rod and main jounal sizes are good (no real bearing wear) and could be polished. The only problem we found with the crankshaft is it has .005 run out (or is bent .005) and should be straightened.

Price wise, here is where we are at right now.

Degrease block = $55.00
Checking block for cracks (pressure test) = $70.00
Check align bore = $90.00

Degrease and check crankshaft = $47.95
Check crankshaft for cracks = $45.00
Plus tax
total = $332.96

FYI If you wanted us to straighten and polish crankshaft
Straighten crankshaft = $65.00
Micro polish and chamfer oil holes= $78.50

I'll wait to hear back from you about the ARP studs and if you want us to continue on with crankshaft. Thanks

Ray
I sent him a email back saying I will not be using arp main studs, I don't believe I need to for my whp goal. I'm not getting the crankshaft fixed this visit, that will get done when I have the block bored and decked on my next visit.

For the most part I'm very happy with Speed Equipment so far, only two things that bother me right now are that he said it should have been done last thursday when I dropped it off but now he said it won't be done until Friday, not a big deal but what if I was in a rush? Second, when he asked if I wanted the crank shaft checked he told me it was just going to be 45 dollars he didn't mention the 47.99 charge for cleaning it. But its only 48 bucks so its not a big deal and I would have said yes to it anyway.

I also might be working a deal to get some 92-93 gsr seats, but we will see how that goes since I'm short on cash now.

I picked up that intercooler tonight from a local dude. Very happy with it. I'm glad it came with brackets already welded on. This thing looks almost brand new. The core is 18x6.5x3.5. It will fit my bumper perfect without having to cut the bumper support. I'm very happy with it and I'm glad its nice and thick to make up for being a bit short. Its bar and plate and precision lists it as its "350hp" model. Inlet and outlet are 2.25 I.D.

Before anyone thinks I picked up some cheap ebay piece, its made by these guys here: http://www.precisionturbo.net/intercoolers.php
