hard to really diagnose this type of problem without hearing it.

its not the throwout bearing. i have the same whining noise in my ls tranny before and after i changed the clutch and bearings. it is most likely an internal issue inside the tranny. try replacing the fluid inside your tranny and see if that helps. it didnt for me. alot of people swear by the gm snycromesh fluid. as long as it still goes into gear get used to that sound until you plan on replacing the tranny.

ure main reason would be that clutch u have in there
my tranny was screwed up because it had stage 4 6puck unsprung clutch in a stock gsr when i bough it.
did a hole clutch job
changed the trow out bearing
new exedy clutch and presure plate and its still making the sound

im tinking its the main bearing in the tranny

so many people told me its ure trow out bearing so hoping that wen i changed it the sound would go away NAT was pised for a whille. gotta take the tranny of and take it apart to see wats up

men... i have a db8... with de same noise. i tok de car to a tranny shop and they said is a bearing inside de tranny. De good news is da it can be fix... de bad is da cause is a gsr is EXPENSIVE... VERY EXPENSIVE. they want 450.00 just to open it and see what is it.. if they can fix it it wiil be in between 450.00 and 1G. SO... im thinkin get another tranny. And yes... i change axle bearings... fluid and everything else.

If the trans is quiet with the clutch out, it's the throwout bearing. If the trans is quiet with the clutch in, it's the ISB (input shaft bearing).

These aren't iron clad rules, but are accurate enough that they're good rules of thumb.

funny thing is I switch the throw out bearing when I replace the clutch it ran fine for a good 6mths but now it makes a whining noise with the clutch out quiet when the clutch in... confusing.

Can someone explain to me before i tear my tranny out what is wrong with it.
Ok wen i drive in any gear i lett of of gas and it starts wining and wen i pheter the gas pedal it still makes the noise GGGGGGGGGGRRRRRRRRRRR
I just did a hole clutch job, new presure plate, new clutch disc, new trow out bearing, and new flyweel bearing the little one in the flyweel. A new main bearing for a gsr tranny is about 80$ plus my own labor to tear it apart and putt it in and new oil.
