Battery, Alternator?
This sunday I had to try to start my car 3 times before it cranked.
I took my accord to advance auto parts they said the battery was bad...they put 650cca in the testing machine (but the stock is only 410 cca) so before buying a new battery i asked the guy to test my alternator. he said the alternator was good because it was putting 14v steady.
I took my accord to auto zone and asked them to test the battery and alternator, this time the battery came out good (he put 410 cca in the machine)
but he said the alternator was bad. he said the alternator was putting 14v but the amps were like 60's...he said regular alternators put out like 100+ amps
im not sure if the alternator is really supposed to put out 100+ amps,
does anybody know the default amp output?

U had to TRY to start the car 3 times? Like turn the key and nothing? Might have a loose battery cable or ground.
Output depends on the alternator. The output should be about 80-130 amps(1500 rpm).

cold can effect the battery's operation. if you were able to try to start the car 3 times cranking it. the battery doesnt sound like the problem. if it were the battery wouldda died. also it would of cranked wayy slow. still using the same battery?
You must make sure your battery is fully charged before you can test any charging system on any vehicle. Charge the battery first, have it load tested by a reputable place. Check all battery cables and connections while it's out being charged. If battery is good, install it and then you can get a correct reading on your alternator test. Good luck with your repair.
