Default Pretty sure it will work...just curious...Fully Built H23 Head on H22 Block

I have a fully Ported and Polished H23 head with Crower Cams and DOuble Valve springs etc etc...My h23 Bottom end is trash but i have an H22a bottom end thats perfect...Ive heard of the H23 Vtecs....I was just wondering if its possible to do the opposite...Use a vtec block with a non vtec head. Plus I think Those Crower Stage 3s would like some more RPMs...Any help would be appreciated

probably be nice. You could revv it a little higher with the Crower cams. Just make sure you add the oil Orifice to the block....

You should sell the head to me and buy an H22 head!

The deck of the h23 block has a plug, It is used to supply the H22 head with more oil, and the H23 head does not have the oil ports. I'll see if i can dig up a picture

Thanks! I saw that on my H23 block...i just built a 12.5:1 H23 VTec...i jest left that plug there...there is a small whole in the bottom of that plug that leads to the oil filter housing. It lines up perfect to the whole in the H22 Head.

I havent looked at the H22 block yet. Its still at the machine shop. But when i get it back ill have to compare all the wholes and ports between the H23 head and the h22 block...

you have to remove that plug if you have a vtec head.

It will give you roughly 10.6:1 compression with USDM pistons. JDM pistons will give you 11.3:1. And Type-s pistons will give you 11.75:1. Crower's 8000+ rpm limit on those cams in combination with some good pistons equals a strong, high revving H23. With torque numbers close to the same as the H22 prior to hitting vtec. But by all means trust me the cams will more than make up for it on the top end. I say build it. But make sure to do it right the first time.

Its a Fresh H22A with all stock internals and a H23 Head with all Crower Valvetrain and stage 3 Camshafts...SHould be pretty decent...Too bad i cant find an intake manifold for an H23 head besides OBX

My other project is a 13:1 Compression H23 Vtec...Wiseco Pistons and lunati I beams with all ARP Fasteners...This one is still on the engine stand. I have to take it back apart becasue i didnt remove the oil orifice if the block! OUCH!

^ IIRC Pirate was selling an adapter to get an H22 IM on the H23 head. You could contact him to see if he still has it. Contact Rosko to get a Euro-R IM

That adapter would be awesome! Is it homemade or is it in production? I was thinking Skunk 2 Intake Manifold for the H22 If i can get that adapter!

Sorry. I made two, sold two. I don't intend to make any more. Last thing I made was a set of shift brackets for another chassis:

No Prelude parts for a while. Sorry. I do think it woud be really neat to see a destroked H23 though. I thought about putting my old H23 head on my Type-S block but I sold a lot of stuff in the last year and a half. Reprioritisations suck for Honda projects.

I typed it out and I am an American, so it's a word. It's amazing what the US had done to the King's English. But there is also a word "prioritise" and there's "re-prioritise" and there's "prioritization" by extension there's "re-prioitisation." Sorry I forgot the hyphen.

Careful there, Pirate. There's a dangerous amount of non-American word spelling in that post. Homeland Security might follow that up....

Those intake manifold adapters could be handy in mass production.

Obx isn't exactly a good choice in anything.

Not enough h23 parts, I dunno why they get the shiet end of the stick. Its a good motor

I substituted a sufficient number of Ss with Zs so I should be good. Besides I know I already have an FBI file... Polygraphs are not fun.

I agree...I love the H and F Series. Torque is amazing and Contrary to most peoples beliefs...They can be revved! Thats why ARP makes rod bolts!

That sentence is altogether abounding with astronomical alliteration.

(I realized that this post was only 50% as worthwhile as originally thought after typing)

mgags...i'm a sucker for alliteration, so its not lost on me

but with an h22 non-vtec i guess you could call it, couldn't you run some stupidly long rods in there?

IDK if I'd call H22 rods "stupidly long".

Maybe compared to everyone's favourite OEM F23 based builds.
