is this normal?
I have stock wheels and when I go to the track I can only rev to 2000 if I hold it at 3000 and drop the clutch all I get is tire spin..........the tires I have are pirelli's......what brand of tires would grip better?
well, there is no answer to your question really... it all depends on condition of your tires and your driving/drag racing skills. practice makes perfect. so go out and practice your launch.
if you want good grip go for falken azenis, BFG drag radials, or nitto NT555R. those have awesome grip and are street legal. however, don't expect them to last as long as your pirellis.

If mileage isn't too big of a concern, I love by BFG Drag Radials. With no NOS, it's all my car can do to spin them. 3500 RPM clutch drop will break my street tires easy, the BFG's won't break with anything less than a full throttle 5500 RPM drop if the intention is to smoke 'em. Hook and book!

and my times for the 1/4 were 15.0.....I only got to make 3 passes.....15.2, 15.2, then 15.0.....hopefully now I will be able to get my times down, once I get some better tires
