obd 2 or obd 1

k heres my question.....im goin to buy a 96-97 spec itr motor from hmotorsonline for my 92 hatch..the motor is obd2 and my car is obd1....i have many questions and not good with any of these... i did some reseach and they said obd2 is better for it cuz its the correct ecu but obd1 is good for better power and tune.....so i was wonderin wat is best for me to do? cuz they said they could sell me the jumper harnes to convert obd2...... but how can i switch a obd2 motor to obd1??? i heard it was distribtor, injuectors and somethin i dunno.... i need some help here...and wat exu should i use if i do switch to obd1?? or should i jus leave it all obd2 and get he harnes??

To switch the motor to OBD1 is very very simple.

All you really need to do is just use an OBD1 engine harness. Everything should plug right in, especially if you get a GSR or LS harness. There might be a few things you need to extend. But you can use almost all of the OBD2 engine sensors, you don't have to change anything there. The only things I can think of off the top of my head are the IAT sensor and the EVAP purge control solenoid. They have different plugs between the two. But you could always just either find OBD1 versions of both of them or just use the OBD2 sensor and just change the plug on the harness to fit.

Then just get a chipped P28 or equivalent ecu and you should be set.

so u sayin jus buy a gsr engine harness somewhere?? im not doin my swap a shop is so should i tell them this??? where can i find theses parts at??

No, you don't need a conversion harness.
