hood questions (stock hood)
my hood has developed this gap that is starting to worry me...its about a half an inch to an inch gap. the hood is latched but there is this gap anyone know ow to adjust it? thx
i dont have any way to take one...ill try to explain it better
the gap is where the hood meets the grill and the headlights. its weird because if i go to the front of the car and push down on it it goes down then when i release it, it returns to the gap...

There are two little rubber ***** you can adjust that will close this gap up. They are located just above the headlights on my car (98 Civic EX Coupe).
However, I discovered that once I closed up the gap, my hood would rattle.
So I went for the stealthy, yet dorky, factory look. Heh.
edit: you can see the ***** between the two headlight supports on each side (the intake is pointed right at the passenger side one).
(not my car, google image search rocks)
edit2: I have a theory that you caould fool with the hood latch and get the hood to not rattle, as well, but I haven't had a chance to play with it.

i had the exact same problems with the hood on my 2000 dx hatch. it was rattling and gapped. i mucked with those silly rubber deals as well, with no avail. so, i loosed the latch mechanism, lowered it a bit, and tightened it back up. that took care of both problems. hope that helps.

I had a 96 civic and I now have a 97 and they both had this problem. It seems like it rattles more in the winter (cold makes the rubber shrink...heat makes it swell). Sometimes it will rattle when the car is idle. You just have to play around with the rubber stops.
