Kosei K1 (What are they made of/Repair Question)
I'm going to be buying a used set of Kosei K1's, but on one rim there is a curb mark around 1/2 of the wheel. I was wondering if anyone knows if K1's are painted/machined/etc? How expensive and how easy would it be to repair the rim?
Thanks....
Thanks....
They are cast aluminum alloy, and they are powdercoated, not painted. Depending on how bad the scratch is, and if it eats into the metal much, you could probably just sand down the scratch, and find a good match of paint for the powdercoat, or get the wheel re-powdercoated.
they are powdercoated, not painted
Because not only does my friend's K1 chip easily, but an old article concerning Sport Compact Car's Project Si states the K1's were a good cheap alternative for their given budget. Due to it's relatively low-cost-painted finish.
I believe it's the other way around.

Kosei K1s are painted.
They're known to come with paint drips on them.
