Default How to check Head

What do you look for in a head to see if there are any damages? Are there any physical way to mechanical test a head that's out of the vehicle?

^^ do like he said thats your best bet.

Usually the only thing you can do without a hot tank is just check for metal shavings and any wear on the valves/springs. Cams and stuff like that.

yeah. Like i said the way you can do it yourself is by checking for metal shavings cracks/leaks, and wear on the valves/springs. Check the bottom of the head to make sure its all level and no warping is going on.

magnafluxing imo is not worth it if it is a stock head and its on the car running better off replacing your valvetrain then spending the money on stock head

I only wanted to know cause i pulled out my engine to rebuild my bottom end and on the bottom of the head where i believe the valves, there was some build up on them. I believe the build up was on the exhaust side.
