Thinking of selling the R, but for how much?
So I have a 2000 black ITR which I was doing some HPDEs with and blew the motor. it spun a bearing needs the crank turned new piston and valve. The car has approx 76xxx miles and is a salvage title. It has corbeau seats, kirk 4pt cage personal quick release wheel, ss brake lines, sk2 camber kit, CF whale ***** intake, and BC exhaust. Some other goodies as well. The car needs some paint to fix scratches and has a broken window motor.
What would be a fair asking price?
I really wish I didnt have to sell but I cant keep dumping money into it :/

^ i would think more than that... a salvage 2000 ITR with 70,XXX miles in that condition would be worth, what... at least 9K? So considering your motor needs to be rebuilt (and assuming the whole thing is shot for simplicity sake), your car's worth... at least 4? I think plenty of people would be willing to pay $3k for a rolling shell w/ full interior, so would think more than $3k for sure.
it needs paint, needs a rebuild and the last salvage r i saw go for 8000
motor rebuild or atleast a new longblock would be atleast 2,000
paint is 2,000
time labor etc
if the title wasn't R titled it would be worth more easily

$4-5k at best. Salvage title and dead motor as it sits is really killing the value. Sell off all the aftermarket stuffs and you'll get your best total $$. Sorry to hear mang..

It was salvaged due to theft then put back together when I bought it. The motor can be saved the crank needs to be turned, needs a new piston and rod and maybe a new valve or seat.

9K wtf? I've got a clean title 97 R with some clean mods and i'm trying to sell for 7500 with no luck
what i meant to say (it must've been late) was that if the condition of the car were good (the bearings weren't spun and the engine didn't need to be rebuilt), then i'd peg the price to be about $9k. your's is a killer deal at 7500 in my opinion, but i guess your miles, the front end, and the ls/vtec are holding the price down... besides the freakin' economy. if i were looking for an ITR on a budget, i'd be considering yours, for sure. GL.
so basically someone would be better off buying a new long block
honda cranks should NOT be turned, and if the valve is messed up the whole head could be messed up
good luck with the sale but your best bet would be to part it out and sell the shell
I think people tend to generalize and jump to conclusions on this forum imho
well i guess my cousin who is a machinist is wrong, as well as 90% of the people on honda-tech who would agree that its not smart to get a honda crank turned
I'd say around 6-7k if you built from skratch - this is equal to my set-up for the most part.
LS Vtec is looked down on by true ITR peeps -- Non Clean title is not going to get you a top dollar price.
Keep the car and get another motor
Im sure it really depends on why it needs to be turned and neither of us are experts its all second hand info so I decline a pissing contest here.
