Default Type One silencer fitment

I currently have a Type One Exhaust. I love it, great power gains w/o the silencer. It pulls incredibly hard(i'll make more videos of the exhaust later for you guys with the new digi cam). ANYHOW, the silencer does NOT like to stay in the tip of the muffler. It continually looks "half out" but it's still screwed in. Then it lodges itself so it looks like this.. |/ (the / is the silencer) when it should be like | (flush) and sticks like that. It is currently bending my tipe a littl bit on the bottom where it screws in because of that and now the fitment is a little off. I guess the exhaust gasses press on it too hard or something.. yes i tighten it all the way, yes the screw is snug. Does anybody else have this problem with a silencer? Is there any fix(besides drilling another hole to keep it in place on top as well)? It seems the only fix is to run w/o the silencer, but i don't want to go deaf. And I obviously don't want to special order the tip only and buy a new silencer, and then weld the new tip on..

Kind of ironic how you'd have their logo as your avatar then. But my friend has had his T1R exhaust w/ silencer off and on with no problem.

The only Type ONE I believe in is a shop in Japan.

Id take the silencer out till i came up with a solution. Or i would fasten or clip on something heat proof that would hold the top part of the silencer better to the tip.

Drill another hole 180 degrees from the one currently on the muffler tip and silencer. Go to a hardware store, buy a nut and bolt. Problem solved.

Breaks down like this. T1R is independent of Type One. I will just call the exhaust the Type One exhaust because that's what people are used to calling it. If i call it the T1R, some peope will go "HUH?" I have the right logo as my avatar. The Type One, the shop, logo is orange with Type and One in a "T" formation. Type One is a shop affiliated with spoon and sells their stuff. T1R (Type One Racing), however, is not affiliated and are a small shop in japan. Canisters are welded together by machine and the b-pipes are hand madrel bent.

Type One Shop Logo

Type One Racing Logo

Furthermore, Type ONE in Japan is Spoon's way to work on customer's cars & sell other worthy upgrades for Hondas. It's conveniently located on the same street as Spoon. So when you're in Tokyo, if you visit one, you can't help but visit the other

Rumors has it that Type ONE is closing for months, to relocate/renovate (forgot which).

But yes, Type ONE (Spoon) and TIR has nothing to do with each other, TIR was using the orange Type ONE logo prior to their current one shown in the avatar).

Looks like the hole where the silencer bolt goes through needs to be a little further in.

no it fits PERFECTLY fine even i don't tighten it all the way. but once i hunker it down, it turns outward like that. the placement is perfect... the but the exhaust tipe isn't straight anymore at the bottome because it's "bent" from the silencer being yanked out into that position by the exhaust gasses. so yeah..

i say just to drill chit man. looks like the best way to remedy this problem...oir maybe instead of tightening the bolt for the silencer all the way down, maybe just screw it alittle bit, that way it will have room to move when the exhaust exits??

unless you have heard it, it's louder than you think.

i have only heard it through one of the members posting their wav files on it. it didnt seem that loud even if it was a little under the normal sound....but i will see when i get it.

anway i think you should just drill. just make a mark at the top (180 deg) from the bottom mark and drill a hole with a dremel. when you made a hole in the tip put the silencer on and drill the hole through the silencer from the hole in the tip. i dont think you should have anything to worry about. i think its pretty hard to mess that up.

yeah those are the vids i was refering to...they didnt seem that loud....you got the Ti canister right?? hows that going for ya??

i had one concern about the canister though. you know how the canister deoes not have hangers welded on itself, but uses that clamp hanger....(sorry for the description), but does that clamp rub around the canidter or cause any marks on the canister?? or is it pretty secure, i wonder how durable that clamp is compared to if the just welded some hangers to the canister itself...what do you think?

I have the Ti canister. I love it. The "clamp" hanger works fine. It doesn't slip or move at all and stays in the same place. You just have to be careful installing it. I suggest you set up the hanger first on the rubber mounts, and then "thread" the canister through. So far I have not had any problems with the clamp.

As I understand it, it's easier to replace things as long as it is in "parts". Like if you break your hanger bar, you don't have to replace the whole canister.. etc etc you get the idea.

to update you, i talked to A&J, the main distributor of T1R exhausts. the reason there has been delays in their shipments is because there are miscommunications between the manufacturer in japan and A&J. supposedly translation issues. last shipment, the shipment where i received my b-pipe, they sent b-pipes ONLY to north america. no axle backs were made. the b-pipes are all hand mandrel bent, which obviously takes a while. the axle backs that were suppose to arrive last shipment, are currently under production.. NOW. they should be out in a couple weeks.

so does that mean that the b-pipe is coming for a ride with the canisters too, or are the b-pipes still on back order....thanks!
