I searched and cannot find where I saw this post before. It was about a starter from another motor that could be used for the H22's. I think it's the B-series but am not sure. Anyone that can verify this?

 

im pretty sure b-series wont work, but i think most f-series will work, some times the terminals are slightly different

 

Is the F-series starter lighter than the H? Any other starters that would work? I'm looking to save some weight.

 

Pull string starter. Just make the string long enough to go to cockpit. lol, could salvage one out of a lawnmower .

I would tend to agree that an F-series might interchange. The easiest way to know for sure is look up the part numbers for all starters and see if they match. These would be difinitative choices for starter swaps eliminating all guessing

 

the F series trans mounts up to the h series so chances are good that the starters will also work. i cant say for sure but it would be worth the trip to the junkyard to find out.

 

I've heard this also that there is one that is lighter, from what i remember it was something like 5-10 lbs lighter nothing crazy but every little bit helps. I am in to find out which starter this is.

 

If they are indeed the same part#, then they are going to weigh the same amount which defeats the purpose of weight reduction.

He never did mention initially in his first post that he was looking for weight reduction so prodominately I was thinking he just needed a direct swap so I offered him my best possible solution.

I'm sure you can save 5-10 lbs somewhere else rather than getting over creative and trying to mix match starters from different series motors.

If weight reduction is really the topic than pull out sound dampening material. Shaved more than 10 lbs and it was free. Remove heavy stereo system and sell it. + couple hundred dollars. Remove rear seats. You can't fit a normal sized person back there anyhow. Sell them too for + couple hundred dollars. Kick fat girlfriend outa the car + a couple hundred dollars for not feeding her. Remove spare tire, jack and tire iron (don't pop a tire though lol, ie.shooting self in foot). Lighter battery (pc odessy batteries half the weight and you can mount it in any orientation so it cleans up engine bay) that will save you 10-15 lbs right there, that will cost you something though. But with all the other shiet you rip out and sell the battery is covered.

All in all that probably shaved off 100-120 lbs (not including fat girlfriend) and probably cost you nothing. Thats just the tip of the "free" ice burg. Lightend performance tires (lotsa money though). CF body parts. CF sunroof plug. Heck lighten pullies and flywheels while ur at it.

Yes, I am looking for a lighter starter that I can use for my H22.

Yes there are other ways to save weight but wouldn't this be one of the ways? Besides, I got the ACE of all weight savings - a CRX chassis.

I read about it on HT somewhere but can't find the damn post. Some guy said he had a starter from another motor that works on H22's and is lighter than the H-series starter.

 

Nice, that sounds good ketchup. CRX chassis is a great platform to work with.

Sorry for getting a tad worked up. Not really your fault at all man. Your just asking your questions. Being specific helps though for sure. Especially in the first post.

i will be doing this soon enough...my h23 tranny starter is acting up and theres 2 accords in my local junkyard so ill post back with some answers

H22, H23, F22 starters will fit. The tranny cases are the same. But the starter on my Euro-R is tiny! There are no part numbers on it, but its a DENSO starter. Hope I was able to help.

Hmm...I'm interested, too. Nothing wrong with shaving some more weight off of the engine.

It has to be either a B-series, D-series, H-series, F-series, or K-series starter, right? So that narrows it down

 

I remember seeing this awhile back and now since its impossible to find things on here I was hoping someone remembered.

sry i never saw this when you posted it. Does anyone have the weight difference between the stock hseries starter and that one ? I can pull mine and get the weight of the h if anyone has the euro-r starter weight.
