Default Tail light and gauge cluster problems.

I drive a 2001 Civic Ex sedan.

The problem: I first noticed it when i used my stock keyless entry remote to unlock my doors. I would usually see my the red lights in the back flash as well the yellow ones in the headlights. I started my car and switched on the headlights to find that the gauge cluster was not illuminating as well as my a/c controls. The instruments themselves all worked as normal for both the dash and cluster. I also found that my brake lights aren't working as normal. But only when i press my brake pedal do they light up. Turn signals are working normally as well.

All that i have tried myself is to check the fuses. I haven't checked all of them just the ones that i thought might be associated with the lights. I cant really tell from the digrams for the fuse boxes. I did replace one under the hood #2 which was blown but that did nothing.

Can anybody help with this? Any solutions and/or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks alot.

If this post is a repeat im sorry.

its got to be a fuse problem... check all the fuses. Sometimes theres a fuse that is for your cigarette lighter that is connected to your parking lights for example... check everyone and replace the bad ones...

Ok, so i checked all the fuses and found the #2 fuse under the hood was blown. I replaced it but nothing happened. So this mourning i went out to check out the same fuse and it was BLOWN again. I've pretty much assumed that this is the one that im looking for, but the problem is still there. What do i have to do next?

*one more thing i just found out. The fuse blows whenever i use my stock keyless entry remote? Im going to try it with the lights.

Check your headlight and taillight wiring. I had a frayed wire leading to my driver's side headlight, that cause this issue.

checked them out both seem fine, its my parking lights that are blowing the fuse. Weather its the keyless entry or the lightswitch itself. Anyone else have any ideas? I took my car to the dealership and they said it was going to be around 200 to run diagnostics on the car. I really dont want to have to resort to that if its something that i can do my self.

Ok so i found the problem. I pulled my stereo system out and i found an orange wire touching some metal. It is either the illumination wire or dimmer wire. Anyhow, i just did a quick fix. Took some electrical tape and wrapped it around the end touching metal, put a fuse in and wallah! both sets of parking lights are working, im still not sure about the gauge cluster yet. Im going to have to wait till it gets a little darker outside for that. Hope this helps anyone having similar problems, or at least saves them a couple hundred from those damn dealerships.
