what would cause dash lights to not work
I replaced the cluster, i replaced the blown fuse, and i still cant get the dash lights to work..the fuse box under the dash has fuses not in certain spots so maybe if someone can tell me what fuses are suppose to be in it for a 90 ef would be great....
They will not work if there is not power, no ground or blown bulbs, it's unlikely that all the bulbs are blown so that leaves power and ground, you will need a multimeter the check which it is, [or isn't]
Pull the "Dash Lights Brightness Control" switch, there should be 3 leads red/black, red and black
The red/black is the power, 12V+ when park/head lights are on.
The black is ground for the switch, ground at all times.
The red is ground for the light bulbs, it is veritable, continuity to ground will increase/decrease as you turn the ****, the more continuity, the brighter the dash lights, the less continuity, the darker the dash lights, brightness of dash lights is controled by how much ground they get. 94

ahhh ok no i done tried that as well, not sure if it can be bad or not but it moved it up to brighten and still nothing... like i said they worked before the whole stereo hook up... i noticed tho under the steering wheel a yellow wire the plastic color was burnt off showing bare wires

If you have a wire that has the insulation burnt right off you have a dead short someplace along without proper fusing.
What is the yellow wire for, the stereo?
If so, it is the stereos constant power lead and should not be running under your steering wheel, if it is the stereos constant power and it is plugged into a free pin on the fuse box, unplug it, pull the HU, [stereo] out of the dash and inspect the wiring, pay close attention to the red/black lead in the stock radio harness.
let me know what you find. 94
Okay there is a pic of the extra wires behind the stereo that are cut going no where...
and the fuse box im not sure if they are all there or not...
yes i have a tester i will try it
