They will not work if there is not power, no ground or blown bulbs, it's unlikely that all the bulbs are blown so that leaves power and ground, you will need a multimeter the check which it is, [or isn't]

Pull the "Dash Lights Brightness Control" switch, there should be 3 leads red/black, red and black

The red/black is the power, 12V+ when park/head lights are on.
The black is ground for the switch, ground at all times.
The red is ground for the light bulbs, it is veritable, continuity to ground will increase/decrease as you turn the ****, the more continuity, the brighter the dash lights, the less continuity, the darker the dash lights, brightness of dash lights is controled by how much ground they get. 94

It is the switch/**** that controls the dash light brightness, also referred to, [wrongly] as the dimmer control. 94

Turning the DLBC **** is not an indication of it working or not, the leads going to it must be tested.

If you have a wire that has the insulation burnt right off you have a dead short someplace along without proper fusing.

What is the yellow wire for, the stereo?
If so, it is the stereos constant power lead and should not be running under your steering wheel, if it is the stereos constant power and it is plugged into a free pin on the fuse box, unplug it, pull the HU, [stereo] out of the dash and inspect the wiring, pay close attention to the red/black lead in the stock radio harness.
let me know what you find. 94
