Default car died in the middle of the road

I have a 00 GSR. The car was running fine and all the sudden it jerked few times and then it ran fine again. It happened like this since last week. Then today when I was running at 40 mph and all the sudden the gas paddle had no respone which felt like no fuel going to the engine no matter how much I hit the gas paddle. The car stalled in the middle of the road finally. Luckly someone helped me to push the car to the side of the road. I kept turning the key and the car won't start. About 5 minutes latter, I tried to turn the key again and the engine started and it stalled again after about 5 mins. Then I waited about 10 mins and turned the key and engine started againl. This time it kept running for more than 10 mins. So I took the chance and drove it all the way home without stalling. I quickly replaced the fuel filter and the same problem still continues (it jerks a few times once for a while when the engine is running). Will that be the distributor or the fuel pump problem? Please advice. Thanks in advance.

Make sure ur fuel pump is working and and it is getting 12v supply I would also check ur rotor and cap on the distributor..most of the time thats what it is I have a MSD w/ coil pack setup so I dont use the Cap or rotor any longer...

If the cap is good it could be the coil pack itself going bad.

i had the same problem on my 1994 rs.
do a spark test and if everything is fine check your fuel pump, make sure its in good cond. and check the color of the gas in the tank. when i replaced my fuel pump and filter, it still didn't work. so i took out the fuel rail and cleaned it and then cleaned the injector filters. after that i put it all back together and it took a few times to start so spray a little bit of brake/carb cleaner in the intake mani. should start up... if not i hope you get it running soon.

i poured 1/2 of can of the seafoam in the tank and 1/2 via the brake booster hose to the engine and the engine run a lot smoother and less jerky instances happen as before. So if seafoam helps, what caused the problem?
