New Stereo Ideas for Integra
Alright guys.. I dont think anyone else has done this, I could be wrong.. But Im fed up with all of my aftermarket BS in the Car stereo department.
I want to find a OEM Honda or Acura CD player that fits and plugs in DIRECTLY into the Acura Integra. I have heard the 97 Prelude CD player plugs in and fits Perfectly in the dash, and I have heard it doesnt. I have heard the Acura Integra CD players fit Directly into the older Integras(like mine) that had Tape players and plugs in, and I have heard they dont.. I dont know what OEM honda cd player to get...
Once I do get one, my plan is to buy this Ipod Interface that connects to your OEM Honda CD PLAYER via the CD changer output, and plays your ipod through your stock cd player, allowing you to control your ipod on your stock CD player...
THEN I want to hook up my Amp (which powers my 1 sub) to the Factory CD player. I know I will have to get that RCA Line out converter thing so that I can hook up my amp to my CD player.... I wont be able to control my bass through my CD player, but is that an issue? Or do I HAVE to buy one of those bass **** controllers... I want the OEM look, but I need the Ipod and Sub as well....
Basically, Does anyone have any experience with this? Will I be able to hook all of this up to my new OEM cd player, once I find one?? Thanks guys.

That sounds unnecessarily complex.
Why not simply get yourself a nice alpine deck with an iPod interface and a remote control.
You will be able to connect your amp directly to the Alpine deck and get a much cleaner line signal which will yield better sound and increase the life of your system.
To achieve that stealth/stock look you can do one of these

I bet you could even make the remote work through the old screen on the false faceplate so that you could change track, etc, all the while looking stock.

Ur proly spend about $300 on all this stuff to make ur factory deck do wat any $300 aftermarket deck can do with a ton more features. But yes this can all be done np. You can find everything youll need on crutchfield.com but id suggest thing about going with a aftermarket deck
I already have a newer aftermarket CD player, And I have the ipod interface for it.. The problem is, In the Integra, I have yet to find a dash kit that fits good inside the hole.. My cd player looks crappy to me, and If I take off fast, sometimes it comes out. I love the look of OEM and the fitment especially. If anyone knows a good brand of Dash INstall kits that fit PERFECTLY inside the Integra, and include the bottom pocket, I might consider keeping my deck.
FINALLY some one else that wants the complete stock look. but **** man if you can find it the eg's with the optional center counsole have the stock cd player that is not with the deck. it would fill the the whole slot where your radio goes
Falls out, LoL.
Somebody doesn't know how to correctly install a HU.
I got a 97' Integra DD stock radio/tape/CD and Yes it'll plug right up and fit perfectly into my 92' Integra.
For the Ipod, you can always use a wireless transmiter to play your tunes.
To use your stock HU to control your Ipod, don't waste your money.
For the amp, use either the high line input or a RCA converter will do.
If you want something to fill up your whole radio gap, just buy a double din HU.
I got a DVD HU in my 97' Integra.
Does it fall out if I take off fast, It better f*cking not, LoL.

I've had multiple dash install kits and they dont fit right... They look like crap. There is no substitute for OEM fitment. the FM transmitter dont have the sound quality, So i really want the Interface for sound quality. Money isnt an issue. Im going to sell my old stuff, anyways. Im a college student who lives at home and works 5 days a week.. Money is there.

Also,I have been looking at some OEM Acura TL cd players.. from the older TLs. they look like they would go right in my Integra. they even have the same bracket on the back to install it in the integra.. what do you guys think? I can get one cheap.
just find the one that fits in the slot of original stereo. wires can always be changed over, if plugs don't match
for ipod, i have already installed few Blitzsafe ipod interfaces that use factory cd changer plug. those work great. but i wouldn't recommend have one that uses radio controls to control ipod since u will loose ability to have ipod controls and screen. it will be very hard to go through songs and playlists from factory radio

well alrighty then. it sounds like your not that great with hu installs. you dont need a kit. all you need is that metal thing that goes on the outside of the hu. on that metal thing there will be these push out squares or triangle you push those out to the side to make it line up correctly, then wire it , the push in hu then put beauty ring wa la perfect fit every time. ive had 3 different head units in my g3 done them all this way fit perfect. by the way buy a pioneer.
Very true, But what I do is create Playlists of the songs I want to listen to, like my new stuff, or my favorites.. So that way I only have to scroll throw about 5 playlists.. It works great. That is why I want that inferface. After looking at the TL CD players, They have to be the same size, and they have the same bracket... Im pretty sure it will fit, And yeah I can change the wires I already have a harness....
good luck with ur project, and i wish rsx bose system would not be integrated into the entire console cause that would be my pick
that was just my opinion... what ever u think is best for u; that same brand sells both versions of adapters or u can get a universal one at local store.

You wanna be careful with Bose. I seem to remember that a Bose HU won't work without Bose speakers, or that Bose speakers wouldn't work without a Bose HU. Something like that. Make sure that whatever you choose that all of it will wire up
this is actually true. i am not sure about acura, but in nissans each individual speaker has its own amplifier, so the stereo does not have its own centralized one. it was in 95 maxima
I don't even use an install kit with my cd player. I strap it with the metal strap to the bracket that the oem player uses so it is tight against the space where it goes and then I make a shim out of cardboard (because it has some give to it) and tape the cardboard to the OEM pocket. Then, I stuff that in. It fits like an effing glove. No coming out. No gaps. nothing. I was also looking for an oem headunit when mine went out, Factory OEM hu are like $600. I was looking around for aftermarket and I stumbled upon Clarion and Nakamichi, both have the look I was looking for. I ended up going with the clarion because it has more features and you can change the lights to light up whatever color you want (even amber, oooh!).
If you want pics let me know, I'll see if I can't find some.

Actually if you want to run the TL HU in an integra everything will fit but like said earlier you would need an amp. The TL came with that amp and you would have to buy that too. Or the sound would be very very low.
not to bring a thread back from the dead but...
I just bought a used 96 Integra. It has the stock head unit that is connected to:
- IPOD charger/dock
- Pioneer 6 CD changer
I play music through stock tweeters, stock head unit, stock everything. So its definitely doable.
