I know the motor will bolt in, but what about the wiring? Will the ecu plug into the factory harness?

no, cause 92 is obd1 and 97 is obd2. But you can covert it

<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by Halo &raquo;</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">I have to pass smog, I have a visual hook-up but not on the sniffer &lt;IMG NAME="icon" SRC="http://images.zeroforum.com/smile/emsad.gif" BORDER="0"&gt; </TD></TR></TABLE>

I don't think you wanna do this. WHY? because you're putting an older (1992) engine into a newer vehicle (97). If the smog guy is going by the book he won't pass you because the motor has to be of the same year AS THE CAR or newer to pass smog & the ref.

If he passes you ...more power to ya.

The CX motor will fit, with the right mounts, but you HAVE to use a 96-98 engine harness when using this motor in your 97 CX. The OBD1 CX engine harness is incompatible with an OBD2 vehicle because of its a 2-piece design ....all 96-00 civics use a 1-piece design engine harness.
